US pushes for ‘safe, secure and trustworthy’ AI regulations at United Nations

The US has presented a resolution at the United Nations, urging global regulations to address concerns over the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI). The proposal calls for the development of "safe, secure and trustworthy" AI systems and encourages responsible and inclusive AI development. The resolution, co-sponsored by over 50 countries, would not be legally binding. The US push at the UN reflects the lack of strong regulations domestically, contrasting with China's strict guidelines and the EU's comprehensive AI rules. The resolution also focuses on bridging the gap between richer and poorer nations.
