This feature aims to simplify the process of acknowledging and engaging with shared content. The like reaction can be triggered by tapping a heart emoji icon while viewing a status update, and the status uploader will receive a notification about the like. This feature will not clutter chat conversations and is expected to roll out gradually in the coming weeks. WhatsApp is also said to be developing a voice chat feature with Meta AI's chatbot functionality.
