WhatsApp beta now allows replacing phone numbers with usernames for privacy

WhatsApp is planning to introduce a new privacy feature called "Username and PIN" which will allow users to hide their phone numbers and use usernames instead. This will provide an added layer of privacy for users, giving them more control over who can contact them. The feature will also include a PIN option, where users can share a four-digit PIN with specific people to connect with them on WhatsApp. In addition, WhatsApp is testing a "like" reaction feature for status updates, similar to Instagram's story likes, to make it easier for users to interact with shared content.
