VLCC-owned Ustraa continued to face topline pressure in FY25, as it reported a second consecutive year of revenue decline since the acquisition, while aggressive cost rationalisation helped the men’s grooming brand sharply narrow its losses. Ustraa’s revenue from operations fell 22% to Rs 73 crore in FY25 from Rs 94 crore in FY24, according to its financial statements filed with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). The Delhi-based company saw nearly 3% decline in revenue in the previous fiscal year (FY24). Founded in 2015, Ustraa offers products such as fragrances, hair care, face care, and beard care. Following its acquisition, the company's founders, Rahul Anand and Rajat Tuli, continued to work with the brand while also leading VLCC's D2C initiatives. Material cost, its largest expense component, fell 55% to Rs 27 crore in FY25 from Rs 60 crore in FY24. Advertising expenses declined 60% to Rs 9 crore in FY25. Employee benefit expenses reduced 35% to Rs 10 crore, and transportation costs decreased to Rs 7 crore. The company, however, saw its commission payouts grow 36% to Rs 15 crore during the fiscal. Overall, Ustraa’s total expenses dropped 39% to Rs 88 crore in FY25 from Rs 145 crore in FY24. With the company’s expenses contracting more than revenue, Ustraa managed to narrow its losses by 72% to Rs 14 crore in FY25 from Rs 50 crore in FY24. Its EBITDA loss stood at Rs 13.4 crore with an EBITDA margin of -18.36%. On a unit basis, Ustraa spent Rs 1.21 to earn a rupee in FY25, improving from Rs 1.54 in the previous fiscal. The company reported cash and bank balances of Rs 4 crore, while its current assets stood at Rs 30 crore, down from Rs 42 crore in FY24. Ustraa was acquired by personal care brand VLCC through a share swap and secondary buyout in the first quarter of FY24. Following the acquisition, Ustraa’s existing investors including Info Edge, 360 One and Wipro Consumer Care Ventures became stakeholders of VLCC. The brand directly competes with Beardo, The Man Company, and Bombay Shaving Company. Beardo reported a 23.7% rise in revenue to Rs 214 crore in FY25, along with a 3.6X jump in profit after tax (PAT) during the same period. The Man Company and Bombay Shaving Company, which recently raised Rs 136 crore ahead of a potential initial public offering (IPO), are yet to report their FY25 numbers. Notably, all these companies have either become part of a larger group or sold a significant stake to a major corporation.

Ixigo’s revenue from operations surged 72% to Rs 284 crore in Q4 FY25 in contrast to Rs 165 crore in Q4 FY24, as per the firm’s consolidated financial results sourced from the National Stock Exchange (NSE). For the full fiscal year (FY25), Ixigo’s operating revenue increased 39% to Rs 914 crore in FY25 from Rs 656 crore in FY24. The Gurugram-based company generated the largest share (44%) of its operating revenue from train ticketing, which rose to Rs 124 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 94 crore in Q4 FY24. Flight and bus booking services contributed 30% and 23% to the company’s revenue, respectively. According to the company, its gross transaction value (GTV) grew 65% year-on-year to Rs 4,418 crore in the fourth quarter of FY25, as compared to Rs 2,685 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Besides operating revenue, the firm also earned Rs 6 crore via interest and gains from financial assets during the quarter which took its total topline to Rs 290 crore in the quarter ending March 2025. Ixigo has not provided a detailed breakdown of expenses in its quarterly financial statements. However, employee benefits expenses rose by 31% YoY to Rs 46 crore. Overall, the company's total costs grew 73% to Rs 263 crore in Q4 FY25 compared to Rs 152 crore in Q4 FY24. For the full financial year ending March 2025, the firm’s total expenses rose to Rs 846 crore as against Rs 628 crore in FY24. In the end, Ixigo's net profits surged 2.4X to Rs 17 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 7 crore in Q4 FY24. On a fiscal basis, its net profit decreased 18% to Rs 60 crore in FY25 from Rs 73 crore in FY24. Ixigo is currently trading at Rs 167 at the end of today’s session with a total market capitalization of Rs 6,500 crore (approximately $760 million).

Advertising income surged 27% to Rs 6,317 crore, making up 31% of the topline. However, revenue from logistics services declined by 38% to Rs 4,224 crore, reducing its share to 21%. The firm made an additional Rs 314 crore from non-operating sources, which pushed its total revenue to Rs 20,807 crore in the last fiscal year (FY25). On the cost side, the largest cost head remained logistics service charges, which increased 9% to Rs 7,144 crore, accounting for 32% of total expenses. Employee benefit expenses declined 8% to Rs 4,748 crore, while marketing costs rose sharply by 37% to Rs 4,100 crore, making up 18% of overall costs. Collection charges stood at Rs 2,693 crore (12.1% of expenses) and legal/professional fees at Rs 1,394 crore. Overall, Flipkart Internet’s total expenses grew 8% to Rs 22,311 crore in FY25 from Rs 20,627 crore in FY24. Flipkart Internet managed to cut its losses by 37% to Rs 1,494 crore in FY25, from Rs 2,359 crore in FY24. Its EBITDA losses narrowed to Rs 1,078 crore in FY25 from Rs 1,869 crore in FY24, with the EBITDA margin improving from -10.25% to -5.18%. On a unit level, Flipkart spent Rs 1.09 to earn a rupee in FY25, better than Rs 1.15 in FY24. The company’s current assets stood at Rs 11,952 crore, while cash and bank balances rose to Rs 187 crore.

Cleartrip’s net operating revenue surged 70% to Rs 169.3 crore in FY25 from Rs 99.7 crore in FY24, according to its annual filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). Cleartrip generated Rs 516.46 crore from service income in FY25, recording a 40% growth over FY24. It also earned Rs 248.38 crore from commissions and incentives, along with Rs 12.7 crore from other operating services. However, heavy discounts and cashbacks of Rs 608.2 crore during the year pulled its net operating revenue down to Rs 169.3 crore. On the cost side, employee benefits were Cleartrip’s largest expense, accounting for 27% of total burn. These costs fell 40% in FY25 from Rs 400.5 crore in FY24. This includes Rs 52.65 crore in non-cash ESOP expenses. Excluding ESOPs, spending on salaries and wages stood at Rs 186.6 crore in the fiscal year ended March 2025. Cleartrip spent Rs 102.16 crore on advertising and marketing in FY25, while commissions and brokerage costs surged over 80% to Rs 128.75 crore from Rs 70 crore in FY24. Finance costs also rose 50% to Rs 143.2 crore, and the company incurred Rs 78.65 crore in payment gateway charges. Other overheads, including outsourcing, IT, and legal and professional services, pushed Cleartrip’s total expenses to Rs 885.8 crore in FY25, down over 10% from Rs 990.7 crore in FY24. The Mumbai-based company’s 70% increase in revenue and control in its expenses led the company to cut its losses by 20% to Rs 651 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 810.3 crore, while its EBITDA margin stood at -334.78%. On a unit basis, it spent Rs 5.23 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in FY25 which improved from around Rs 10 in FY24. As of March 2025, the company’s current assets stood at Rs 709.8 crore, including cash and bank balances of Rs 71.6 crore. Cleartrip has become somewhat of an oddity in the Flipkart stable. Flipkart, which made almost Rs 6,400 crores from advertising in FY25, has not really done much with the OTA other than slap it on as a travel offering. But at these margins, does it even make sense? Would Flipkart be better off renting out the space to some other independent travel operator?

Beyond operations, the company booked Rs 89 crore in non-operating income from interest on deposits, corporate bonds, mutual fund gains, and fair value adjustments. This pushed its total income to Rs 4,746 crore in FY25 from Rs 3,822 crore in FY24. For the used car retailer, the cost of procuring cars was naturally the largest cost center, accounting for 83.3% of the overall cost. In line with a 25% revenue surge, this cost grew 23% to Rs 4,309 crore in FY25. The firm cut its employee benefits by 13.8% to Rs 338 crore in the said year. Spinny’s direct cost stood at Rs 147 crore while its advertising and promotion costs reduced by 11.3% to Rs 125 crore in FY25. Other overheads, including information technology, legal, travelling, and rent, took the total cost to Rs 5,170 crore in FY25. The decent growth in its revenue helped Spinny to cut down its losses by 28.3% to Rs 423 crore in FY25 from Rs 590 crore in FY24. The company has also improved its per unit expense to revenue ratio in FY25, which was recorded at Rs 1.11. In March this year, the company closed $170 million round this year led by Accel Leaders Fund. According to startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, Spinny has raised around $676 million to date, including investors like Tiger Global, Accel, Elevation Capital, and others. The company expanded its portfolio by acquiring Autocar India, an auto media and car content platform, and started its own NBFC subsidiary.

Overall, Bluestone's total costs grew by approximately 23%, reaching Rs 576 crore in Q2 FY26. The growth momentum in the company helped to cut its losses by 38% to Rs 52 crore in Q2 FY26 from Rs 84 crore in Q2 FY25. For the half-year, the company’s loss decreased by 40% to Rs 87 crore in H1 FY26 from Rs 144 crore in H1 FY25. Bluestone launched its initial public offering (IPO) in August 2025, with a price band set between Rs 492 and Rs 517 per share. The stock made its market debut on 19 August 2025 at Rs 510, reflecting a slight 1.3% discount from its issue price of Rs 517 and raised Rs 1,500 crore overall, which included Rs 693 crore garnered from anchor investors earlier that month. At the end of today’s trading session, Bluestone’s share traded at Rs 714, with a 0.4% increase in its share price. In terms of cost breakdown, employee benefit expenses declined slightly by 6% to Rs 334 crore in FY25 from Rs 355 crore in FY24, accounting for 10% of the company’s total costs. On a unit basis, Acko spent Rs 1.17 to earn a rupee in FY25. The company’s current assets stood at Rs 1,798 crore, including Rs 28 crore in cash and bank balance at the end of FY25. According to TheKredible, Acko has raised over $458 million to date. General Atlantic is the largest external shareholder with a 10.7% stake, followed by Accel Partners and Elevation Capital. Acko’s competitor Digit Insurance reported Rs 2,088 crore operating revenue in Q2 FY26, while its profit after tax increased by 30% to Rs 116.5 crore during the same period.

Revenue from fitness subscriptions, including flagship offerings such as Cultpass, Cult.fit centres, and platform services, accounted for 73% of total revenue which increased by 32.7% year-on-year to Rs 889 crore in FY25. The sale of products, including sportswear for men and women as well as other gym and fitness products, contributed Rs 326.4 crore to total revenue, with the segment’s revenue rising 27% compared to FY24. Cult.fit also earned Rs 56.5 crore from other income, including interest on current investments and miscellaneous non-operating sources, taking its total revenue to Rs 1,272 crore in FY25. Coming to expenses, employee benefit costs remained largely flat at Rs 347.4 crore in the last fiscal, including Rs 99.5 crore ESOP expenses. Spending on advertising and promotional expenses remained flat at Rs 202.9 crore in FY25, while depreciation and amortisation costs increased 12% year-on-year to Rs 237.6 crore. Legal and professional expenses, along with finance costs, added another Rs 120.9 crore and Rs 109.5 crore, respectively, to the company’s total expenses. Information technology, travel and other miscellaneous expenses pushed overall costs up by 12% year-on-year to Rs 1,751.6 crore in FY25. In the end, the Bengaluru-based firm’s losses declined by 10% to Rs 480.8 crore in FY25. Its ROCE and EBITDA margins stood at -24.02% and -15.54% respectively whereas its EBITDA (loss) stands at Rs 189 crore in the period. Cult.fit managed to improve its expense-to-earning ratio to Rs 1.44 in the previous fiscal. Its current assets stood at Rs 1,029.5 crore with a cash and bank balance of Rs 240.7 crore in FY25. According to startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, Cult.fit has raised over $675 million to date from investors including Accel, Temasek, Eternal (Zomato), Tata Digital and several others. The Tata Digital-backed company is reportedly aiming to raise Rs 2,500 crore through an initial public offering (IPO) at a valuation of around $2 billion, and has appointed Axis Capital, Jefferies, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JM Financial as its bankers.
