Tata Motors aims to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, says executive

Tata Motors aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its manufacturing facilities by 2045, according to Executive Director Girish Wagh. The company is actively employing electric and hydrogen fuel technologies to reach this target. Wagh highlighted that Tata Motors is committed to investing Rs 2,000 crore annually in its commercial automotive business. The transition to zero-emission technologies will encompass battery electric and hydrogen solutions, with a focus on hydrogen internal combustion engines. A manufacturing facility for these technologies is being established in partnership with the Jharkhand government. Over 80% of Tata Motors' heavy commercial vehicles are produced in Jharkhand, and the company is working to enable the Jamshedpur facility for zero-emission technologies. An initial investment of over Rs 350 crore will go into the hydrogen facility.
