Chef Robotics, creators of AI-enabled robotic systems for meal assembly, has raised $43.1 million in new Series A funding, including $20.6 million in equity and $22.5 million in equipment financing debt. The equity round was led by Avataar Ventures and included investments from Construct Capital, Bloomberg Beta, Promus Ventures, MFV Partners, Interwoven Ventures, HCVC, MaC Venture Capital, Red and Blue Ventures, Tau Partners, Alumni Ventures, Siddhi Capital, and BOLD Capital Partners. The funding round will allow Chef to accelerate production deployments of its robotic systems, providing momentum for the real-world AI data engine flywheel that the company credits for its rapid growth rate of meals produced. The debt will be used to finance Chef's robotic systems for Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS), ensuring that Chef's customers do not have to front CapEx for their robots. The new funding brings Chef's total capital raised to $65.6 million, which includes $26.75 million in equipment financing, all with Silicon Valley Bank, a division of First Citizens Bank. Chef claims to have produced over 44 million servings through robot deployments at brands such as Amy's Kitchen, Sunbasket, Chef Bombay, and Cafe Spice. The data collected from each meal assembled is used to train its AI models. "Robotics is really having a moment right now. The innovations in AI have unlocked the potential of Embodied AI for robotics. We believe we're in the pole position to scale, given all the real-world production training data we already have," says Rajat Bhageria, Founder and CEO of Chef Robotics.

D2C kitchenware startup The Indus Valley has raised Rs 23.1 crore in its pre-Series A round, led by DSG Ventures. This marks the first investment for the Chennai-based firm after a 25-month hiatus. The board at Indus Valley has passed a board resolution to issue 41,485 pre-series A CCPS at an issue price of Rs 5,580.4 each to raise Rs 23.1 crore or $2.75 million, its regulatory filing sourced from the RoC shows. DSG Consumer Partners invested Rs 14.5 crore, while the White Whale Venture fund has put in Rs 3.52 crore. Candle Advisors, Zend Advisors. Individual investors including Shavak Srivastava, Rajiv Pillai, and Girish Gupte invested the rest of the amount. The company has already received Rs 18.62 crore from the specified amount, with the remaining capital is expected to get wired soon. According to the data intelligence platform TheKredible, the company has been valued at Rs 303 crore or $36 million post-money. This marks a around threefold increase from its previous funding round, where it was valued at Rs 116 crore. The round appears to be an ongoing one, and the firm may raise more capital. The Indus Valley specializes in toxin-free kitchenware, offering safe alternatives to chemically coated products. Its products are made from cast iron, iron, copper, clay, and wood. During the fiscal year ended March 2023, the company recorded a 68% year-on-year growth to Rs 38.81 crore. The firmโ€™s losses grew 2.8X to Rs 8.98 crore in the same period. The company has yet to file its annual report for the previous fiscal year (FY24).

Agritech robotics firm Niqo Robotics (formerly TartanSense) has raised Rs 74.7 crore or $9 million in a new round led by Brida Innovation Ventures. The fresh funding comes after a hiatus of three years for the Bengaluru-based company. The board of Niqo Robotics has passed a special resolution to issue 8,577 preference shares at a price of Rs 87,090 each to raise Rs 74.7 crore, its regulatory filing accessed from the Registrar of Companies shows. Bidra Innovation Ventures pumped in Rs 41.5 crore while exiting investor Omnivore Partners also subscribed to the round with Rs 33.2 crore. As per startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, the company has been valued at around Rs 290 crore or $35 million (post-money) Following the fresh proceeds, Omnivore Partners emerged as the largest external stakeholder with 25.7% followed by Brida Innovation and Blume Ventures which commanded 18% and 10.7%, respectively. Founded in 2015 by Jaisimha Rao, Niqo Robotics specializes in crafting compact agricultural robots empowered with AI-driven computer vision technology which claims to reduce costs and increase profitability. The company announced its rebranding to Niqo Robotics in March last year. Niqo Robotics has raised $16 million to date including its $5 million in Series A round from FMC, Omnivore, and Blume Ventures in August 2021. The firm also scored a $2 million Seed round in 2019. While the company would disclose its FY24 numbers later this year, the nine-year-old firmโ€™s Indian entity largely remained in pre-revenue stage with a revenue of only Rs 1.3 crore during FY23. At the same time, its losses spiked twofolds to Rs 9.8 crore in the fiscal year ending March 2023.

Scapia raises $40 Mn in Series B led by Peak XV Travel fintech company Scapia has raised $40 million in its Series B round led by Peak XV Partners, with participation from existing investors, Elevation Capital, Z47, and 3State Ventures. The funding will enable Scapia to strengthen its team, enhance its product offerings, harness the power of AI, and accelerate its ambitious growth plans, Scapia said in a press release. According to the companyโ€™s regulatory filings, it has secured Rs 289 crore ($34 million) so far, with the remaining funds expected soon. In this round, Peak XV Partners took the lead, investing Rs 218 crore ($25.6 million), followed by Elevation Capital with Rs 62.28 crore ($7.3 million) and 3State Ventures contributing Rs 8.65 crore ($1.02 million). According to a separate resolution, the Bengaluru-based company also expanded its ESOP pool by 3,460 ESOP options. The newly added ESOP will be valued at Rs 22 crore, while the total pool now stands at Rs 132 crore (approximately $15.5 million). Entrackr estimates that the companyโ€™s post-money valuation stands at Rs 1,645 crore or $193.5 million. The valuation may vary after completion of the round. Founded by Anil Goteti, Scapia operates as a fintech-travel platform, offering a lifetime-free credit card with travel rewards. It generates revenue through interchange fees, interest on EMIs, and partner commissions from travel bookings. Scapiaโ€™s co-branded card with Federal Bank offers great value with no joining or annual fees, zero forex markup, and free unlimited domestic lounge access and airport perks based on monthly spending. Cardholders get 10% rewards on all purchases and 20% rewards on travel bookings made through Scapia. Scapia has raised over $70 million to date, including its $23 million Series A round led by Elevation Capital and 3State Ventures in November 2023. According to startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, Peak XV Partners became the largest external shareholder with a 13.74% stake, followed by Matrix Partners at 13.68%. Its FY24 appeared to be the first operational year, recording a revenue of Rs 17 crore while incurring a loss of Rs 88 crore during the same period. The company competes with the likes of One Card, which posted Rs 1,425 crore revenue, and Zolve, which stood at a revenue of Rs 67.8 crore in the fiscal year ended March 2024.
