RSPL raises $3 Mn seed round led by Equirus and Artha Venture Fund Deeptech startup Raana Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd. (RSPL) has raised $3 million in a seed round led by Equirus Innovatex Fund and Artha Venture Fund, with participation from IvyCap Ventures, PointOne Capital, CIIE Initiatives (IIMA Ventures) and angel investor Garimella Laxminarayana. This marks the company’s first institutional funding and was raised through a pure equity round. The proceeds will be used to accelerate R&D and product development of indigenous Czochralski (CZ) silicon ingot growth systems. The firm is initially focusing on building systems capable of producing 10–12 inch solar-grade silicon ingots, with a long-term roadmap toward semiconductor-grade wafers. Founded over a decade ago, Raana Semiconductors works on CZ-based crystal growth equipment and single-crystal materials. It develops and supplies turnkey silicon ingot growth systems, including installation, commissioning, and after-sales support, which are typically sourced from overseas suppliers. RSPL is currently the only private Indian company focused exclusively on CZ crystal growth equipment. The firm has worked with institutions such as BARC and IGCAR and has also executed projects under the Ministry of Defence’s iDEX programme. For FY26, the company has secured confirmed orders worth Rs 12 crore from government departments and national laboratories. Raana Semiconductors plans to commercialise its solar-grade CZ systems within the next 18 months, targeting large-scale silicon ingot production for domestic solar manufacturers.

Snippets Hycosys raises seed round led by MountTech Growth Fund’s Kavachh Deep-tech engineering startup Hycosys has raised over $1 million (approximately Rs 9 crore) in a seed funding round led by MountTech Growth Fund – Kavachh. The Bengaluru-based startup had earlier secured $88.4K in a pre-seed funding round from PointOne Capital in December 2024. The fresh funds will be deployed to strengthen the engineering team, access advanced testing facilities, develop a micro gas turbine (MGT), and demonstrate a working clean energy alternative to diesel-based power generators by mid-2027, Hycosys said in a press release. Co-founded in 2024 by Tapish Agarwal and Ugandhar Reddy, Hycosys is a deep-tech engineering startup building fuel-flexible, low-emission micro gas turbine systems engineered from first principles. The startup is supported by multiple government, VC, and CSR-backed programmes, with a focus on developing hydrogen-ready and clean fuel-flexible micro gas turbines for distributed clean power, mobility, and aerospace applications. As per industry reports, India currently has over 227 GW of installed diesel generator capacity, primarily catering to industrial backup and captive power requirements. Hycosys plans to diversify and integrate its MGT with microgrids, heavy commercial vehicle range extenders, and advanced propulsion units designed for integration with large fixed-wing drones and aircraft. The startup’s innovation includes a hydrogen-optimised combustor, a 3D-printed heat recovery unit, and an advanced turbine design, which are currently being tested at IIT-BHU. This approach significantly improves efficiency while making the MGT up to 30% lighter than existing systems. The startup aims to build scalable, indigenous turbine technologies aligned with India’s long-term decarbonisation and emission reduction goals of meeting 50% of total energy requirements from non-fossil sources by 2030.

Semiconductor startup C2i Semiconductors raises $15 Mn led by Peak XV Semiconductor startup C2i Semiconductors has secured $15 million in a funding round led by Peak XV Partners, with participation from Yali Deeptech and TDK Ventures. The Bengaluru-based startup had previously raised $4 million from deeptech venture fund Yali Capital in November 2024. The proceeds will be used to support global expansion, set up a US office to be closer to customers and key decision-makers, and later build an applications and systems engineering team in Taiwan, the company said in a press release. Co-founded in June 2024 by Ram Anant, Vikram Gakhar, Preetam Tadeparthy, Dattatreya Suryanarayana, Harsha S B, and Muthusubramanian N V, C2i Semiconductors is developing power management solutions for AI data centres and cloud infrastructure. The company is targeting system-level innovations that rethink how power flows from the grid to the processor core. C2i plans to move quickly from design to silicon. Its first product is scheduled for tapeout in April, followed by a second product in July. One chip will be manufactured at Tower Semiconductor in Israel, while the other will be fabricated at GlobalFoundries, either in Singapore or Dallas. According to market research, AI infrastructure capex is expected to reach $500–600 billion over the next 12–18 months and could grow to $1 trillion by 2030. C2i claims its system-level architecture can recover 8–10% efficiency, improve GPU performance by about 3%, and significantly extend server lifetimes. A 10% efficiency gain can translate into nearly 1 kW saved per server tray, adding up to hundreds of kilowatts across large deployments, directly improving return on investment for operators. The company said it is already in discussions with three to four enterprise server customers to define components for their next-generation platforms and is targeting global enterprise players.
