However, the Mumbai-based company has cut losses by 38% due to a sharp reduction in finance and depreciation costs during the last fiscal year. PharmEasyโ€™s operating revenue increased 3.7% to Rs 5,872 crore in FY25 from Rs 5,664 crore in FY24, according to the companyโ€™s financial statements reviewed by Entrackr. PharmEasy offers pharmaceutical products, along with diagnostic services and teleconsultations, through its mobile and web apps. PharmEasy derived about 87% of its operating revenue, or Rs 5,097.5 crore, from the sale of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, while the remainder came from services such as diagnostics, teleconsultations, delivery, warehousing, and commissions from facilitating pathological tests. The firm also earned Rs 108 crore in non-operating income from interest and asset gains, taking its total revenue to Rs 5,898 crore in FY25. On the expenses side, the cost of materials remains the largest cost centre constituting 67.2% of the total expenditure to Rs 4,844 crore in FY25. PharmEasyโ€™s employee benefit expenses went up by 30% to Rs 908.4 crore in the last fiscal year as compared to Rs 700 crore in FY24. Meanwhile, finance costs also went down 30% to Rs 506 crore while the depreciation and amortization expenses declined 21.7% to Rs 168.9 crore during the year. Contractual payment for delivery associates was another significant cost at Rs 90 crore. Other expenses include legal, professional, sales promotion, and marketing. The companyโ€™s overall expenses also remained flat at Rs 7,208.5 crore in FY25. While the companyโ€™s revenue and expenses remained largely unchanged in FY25, a reduction in exceptional items such as early redemption charges on non-convertible debentures, goodwill impairment and others helped narrow its losses by 38% to Rs 1,572.3 crore compared to Rs 2,533.5 crore in FY24. PharmEasyโ€™s EBITDA (loss) stood at Rs 553.5 crore while its ROCE and EBITDA margin improved marginally to -13.9% and -15.71%, respectively. On a unit level, Pharmeasy spent Rs 1.23 to earn a rupee of revenue during the fiscal year ending March 2025. Thyrocare, a diagnostic and preventive healthcare service provider, in which Pharmeasy acquired a majority stake in June 2021, posted Rs 687.5 crore in FY25, a 20% increase compared to Rs 571.88 crore in FY24. During the same period, its profit also grew by 30% to Rs 90.75 crore. Earlier this year, PharmEasy cofounders Dharmil Sheth, Dhaval Shah, and Hardik Dedhia stepped back from the company, while the fourth cofounder Siddharth Shah exited last month. The parent entity API Holdings has now appointed Rahul Guha, who also serves as the MD and CEO of Thyrocare, as its new MD and CEO. According to the startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, PharmEasy has raised around $1.1 billion to date from Ranjan Paiโ€™s MEMG, Prosus, and Temasek, among others.

The Goldman Sachsโ€™ loan had certain financial conditions tied to the companyโ€™s spending, which were breached in June 2023, though PharmEasy has continued to make all payments on time. The 360 One-led debt round involves the allotment of 1,700 non-convertible debentures at Rs 10 lakh each, as per the filings with the Registrar of Companies. 360 One contributed Rs 1,231 crore, while Micro Labs Limited put in Rs 210 crore. MVS Ventures invested Rs 78 crore, with Bennett Coleman and Alkram Ventures contributing Rs 50 crore and Rs 42 crore, respectively. Eight other investors, including Kyrush Investments, Medley Pharmaceuticals, and Mahalaxmi Trust, covered the remaining sum. This fundraising follows a $216 million capital raise in April 2024, which came at a 90% valuation haircut to $710 million from PharmEasyโ€™s $5.6 billion peak in 2021. That round, led by MEMG with participation from Prosus, Temasek, and others, was aimed at shoring up finances amid slowing growth and high debt obligations. Founded in 2019, PharmEasy offers pharmaceutical products, diagnostics, and teleconsultations through its web and mobile platforms. The company has now completed its third circle of debt, highlighting the ongoing challenge of balancing aggressive growth ambitions with high-cost leverage. Over the past two years, the company saw the exit of all co-founders and major changes at the leadership level, with Rahul Guha, MD and CEO of Thyrocare, taking over as MD and CEO of PharmEasy. Fees, commissions, and other operating income collectively stood at Rs 50 crore during the year. Including other income of Rs 16 crore, Auxiloโ€™s total revenue reached Rs 544 crore in FY25. On the expenditure side, interest costs accounted for 71.5% of total expenses, rising in line with disbursements to Rs 282 crore in FY25. Employee benefits were recorded at Rs 56 crore, while overall costs increased to Rs 394 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 275 crore in FY24. The companyโ€™s controlled cost structure supported profitability, leading to a 62.3% jump in PAT to Rs 112 crore in FY25, against Rs 69 crore in FY24. Auxiloโ€™s expense-to-revenue ratio also improved to 0.75 in FY25. Earlier this year, Auxilo raised Rs 50 crore from Motilal Oswal. Since its inception, it has secured over $100 million across equity and debt. Curefoods operates a multi-brand cloud kitchen business across categories like Indian meals, pizza, desserts, and health-focused food. In FY25, desserts led revenue with Rs 196 crore, followed by pizza (Rs 183 crore), Indian meals (Rs 178 crore), and healthy meals (Rs 176 crore). While desserts and pizza grew 18% and 95% YoY, respectively, the healthy segment declined by 13%. The Bengaluru-based company added Rs 29 crore from interest on financial assets which pushed its total income to Rs 775 crore in FY25. On the expense side, the cost of materials accounted for the largest share at Rs 273 crore, followed by employee benefit expenses at Rs 180 crore and commissions at Rs 137 crore. Advertising costs jumped significantly by over 64% to Rs 87 crore. Overall, the companyโ€™s total expenditure stood at Rs 944 crore in FY25, rising by 17% from Rs 807 crore in FY24. Despite the revenue growth, Curefoodsโ€™ loss remained flat at Rs 170 crore in FY25 from Rs 173 crore in FY24. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin stood at -19% and -7.5%, respectively. On a unit level, the company spent Rs 1.27 to earn a rupee of operating revenue in FY25. As of March 2025, the Ankit Nagori-led company had current assets worth Rs 339 crore in FY25, including Rs 80 crore in cash and bank balances. Curefoodsโ€™ founder Nagori is entitled to an annual fixed remuneration of Rs 3 crore (inclusive of perquisites and retirement benefits) and an annual variable bonus of up to 20% of his remuneration. Curefoodsโ€™ operational performance improved in FY25, with average daily sales rising to Rs 2 crore from Rs 1.5 crore in FY24, amid strong consumer demand across its brands. Among its 10 key brands, Sharief Bhai, EatFit, and CakeZone led revenue with Rs 148 crore, Rs 145 crore, and Rs 102 crore, respectively. The company also added new revenue streams through the launch of Krispy Kreme operations in South, West, and North India, with Rs 15 crore in revenue in FY25 after acquiring the franchise rights. The improving numbers certainly indicate a level of maturity for the business, prompting the move to go public as well. However, risks remain, particularly in the performance of the โ€˜Healthy Foodsโ€™ segment and now, the Krispy Kreme franchise, which has not quite delivered in India, and continues to face a tough challenge to crack the local market. Curefoods and its multi-brand approach remains to be tested, especially with profits still distant, and H1 of FY26 will probably be a good time to evaluate if the firm has discovered a path to profitability.

Revenue from hostel fees and transportation added Rs 88 crore, and the sale of products jumped 74% to Rs 259 crore in FY25. India remained the core market contributing Rs 2,851 crore or 98.75% of the total operating revenue, while Dubai and the USA collectively accounted for Rs 36 crore or 1.25%. PhysicsWallah employed 5,096 faculty members in FY25, a 40% increase from 3,654 in FY24. Of these, 4,207 were permanent teachers while 889 were hired on a contractual basis. To support the larger base of faculty and other staff, the companyโ€™s spend on salaries grew nearly 28% to Rs 1,426 crore in FY25, accounting for 44% of its overall expenditure. Marketing expenses stood at Rs 448 crore for FY25. The company also spent Rs 123 crore on materials and Rs 366 crore on depreciation. Overall, PhysicsWallah kept its spending broadly flat at Rs 3,265 crore in FY25 as against Rs 3,279 crore in FY24. With controlled expenses and growing revenue, PW managed to bring down its burn significantly by 78.5% to Rs 243 crore in FY25 from Rs 1,131 crore in FY24. The company reported a positive EBITDA of Rs 192.5 crore in FY25 with an EBITDA margin of 6.33%. The companyโ€™s ROCE stood at -6.37%. On a unit level, the firm spent Rs 1.13 to earn a rupee in FY25, a sharp improvement from Rs 1.69 in FY24. The company reported current assets worth Rs 2,237 crore as of March 2025, including Rs 175 crore in cash and bank balances. The company disclosed a political contribution of Rs 37 lakh during FY25. Nazara also earned Rs 18 crore from interest and gains on financial assets during the quarter, bringing its overall revenue to Rs 539 crore. However, the company posted a 40.8% YoY increase in its total income to Rs 1,715 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 1,218 crore in FY24. On the line of scale, Nazaraโ€™s total expenses surged by 85.3% to Rs 528 crore in Q4 FY25, compared to Rs 285 crore in the same quarter last year. Content and commission costs together stood at Rs 186 crore, while employee benefit expenses rose to Rs 80 crore. Notably, marketing expenses saw a sharp 3.5X jump, reaching Rs 151 crore in Q4 FY25. Despite a 95% year-on-year revenue growth in Q4, the companyโ€™s profit remained flat at Rs 4 crore in Q4 FY25. For the full fiscal year, its net profit declined to Rs 51 crore in FY25 from Rs 74.7 crore in FY24. The construction and fit-out projects segment brought in Rs 68.15 crore, while other services brought in Rs 5.9 crore to the overall revenue in Q2 FY25. Subcontracting cost was the largest burn which stood at Rs 56.13 crore, whereas employee benefits expenses increased to Rs 39.38 crore. Depreciation and amortization expenses grew 33.5% YoY to Rs 64 crore. Finance costs amounted to Rs 30.4 crore which pushed the firmโ€™s total cost to Rs 287.29 crore in the September quarter. With an exceptional item income of Rs 24 crore, Awfis posted a profit after tax of Rs 38.67 crore. Awfisโ€™ stock was listed on the NSE on May 30, opening at Rs 435 with a 13.58% premium over the issue price of Rs 383. Before Mondayโ€™s market closure, the companyโ€™s shares were trading at Rs 776.

According to its co-founder Sateesh Nukala, BigHaat has crossed the Rs 1,100 crore revenue threshold in FY25 from Rs 1,050 crore in FY24. BigHaatโ€™s revenue split consists of 85% of revenue coming from farm produce sales, with agri-inputs, which is direct to farmers, and digital only contributing 15%. The platform now counts 3 million monthly active farmers and reported 15% gross margins in FY25, said Nukala in an interaction with Entrackr. Nukala highlighted that exports and advanced processing, a high-margin vertical launched in FY25, now contribute 20% to its monthly revenue. โ€œWe have reduced our net loss to Rs 25 crore in FY25 from Rs 35 crore in FY24 and turned EBITDA positive for the last three quarters,โ€ said Nukala. He also added that BigHaat is among the few agritech startups to achieve profitability at scale with 6x revenue-to-capital efficiency. As per Nukala, the company is targeting Rs 1,400 crore in FY26, with spices emerging as a key growth driver. โ€œWe are also open to acquisitions of new brands to strengthen our portfolio,โ€ he emphasized. BigHaat has raised around $25 million to date. In January 2022, it raised Rs 100 crore led by JM Financial. Beyond Next Ventures, Ashish Kacholia, Ankur Capital, and others are some notable investors for the firm. This contrasts with larger peers. DeHaat, Indiaโ€™s most valued agritech startup, clocked Rs 2,675 crore revenue in FY24 but with losses of over Rs 240 crore. Ninjacart, backed by Walmart and Flipkart, crossed Rs 2,000 crore revenue in the same fiscal but recorded a Rs 259.6 crore loss. IndiQubeโ€™s equity shares will be listed on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). In a shareholders letter, the company attributed the year-on-year growth to a 73.6% rise in deliveries, which reached 98,619 units during Q2 FY25. Revenue from its automotive segment stood at Rs 1,215 crore, while the cell segment contributed Rs 1 crore. The firm also registered Rs 100 crore from other income which brought its total income to Rs 1,314 crore in Q2 FY25. Cost of materials was the largest burn for the Bhavish Aggarwal-led firm which jumped 46.6% to Rs 1,072 crore from Rs 731 crore in Q2 FY24. On a quarterly basis, the cost declined by 18% from Rs 1,311 crore in Q1 FY25. During Q2 FY25, employee benefits expenses stood at Rs 139 crore while other expenses, including operational and administrative costs, contributed Rs 465 crore. The firmโ€™s total expenses for Q2 FY25 stood at Rs 1,593 crore, a 21.8% surge from Rs 1,308 crore in Q2 FY24. When compared on a sequential basis, the total expenses decreased by 13.8% from Rs 1,849 crore in Q1 FY25. Overall, the company posted a net loss of Rs 495 crore, a 42.65% increase from Rs 347 crore in the previous quarter (Q1 FY25). The losses were down by 5.5% year-on-year from Rs 524 crore in Q2 FY24. Among the venture funded companies, Ola Electricโ€™s closest competitor Ather posted Rs 339 crore of revenue with a net loss of Rs 183 crore in Q1 FY25. Its Q2 results are yet to be announced. The Tarun Mehta-led firm also filed its draft IPO papers in September. After consecutive declines in market share, Ola Electric regained traction in October, with sales increasing during the festive period. The company sold 41,605 units in October, which helped its market share climb to 30% in the last month from 27% in September. However, this figure remains lower than its earlier market shares, which were 32% in August, 39% in July, and 49% in June.
