Fintech firm Paytm’s revenue from operations shrank 33.8% to Rs 1,501.6 crore during the first quarter of fiscal year ending June 2024 (Q1 FY25) as compared to Rs 2,267.1 crore in Q4 of FY24, according to the company’s unaudited consolidated quarterly report filed with the National Stock Exchange. Compared to the corresponding quarter of FY24 (Q1 FY24), Paytm saw a 35.87% decline in scale from Rs 2,341.6 crore. Besides operating revenue, Paytm also earned Rs 137.5 crore via interest and gains from financial assets during the quarter which took its overall revenue to Rs 1,639.1 crore. On the expense front, Paytm’s employee benefits costs formed 38.5% of the total expenditure during the period. This cost slipped 13.75% to Rs 952.5 crore (including share-based payment expenses of Rs 246.8 crore) in Q1 of FY25 from Rs 1,104.4 crore in the previous quarter (Q4 of FY24). Payment processing expenses also went down 27.66% to Rs 517.1 crore on a quarterly basis from Rs 714.8 crore in the previous quarter. Meanwhile, spendings on marketing and promotions inclined 72% to Rs 221.4 crore during the quarter whereas IT infrastructure (software, cloud, and data center) cost increased 12.38% to Rs 182.4 crore. At the end, the company’s total expenses declined 8% to Rs 2,476.4 crore in Q1 of FY25 in comparison to Rs 2,691.4 crore in Q4 FY24. The tumbling business resulted in a rise in quarterly losses which spiked over 52.6% to Rs 840 crore during the quarter (Q1 of FY25) against Rs 550.5 crore in the previous quarter. Compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year (Q1 FY24), the company’s losses surged 134.4% from Rs 358.4 crore. On a unit level, Paytm spent Rs 1.65 to earn a rupee of operating income during the quarter. Despite regulatory hurdles and subsequent revenue decline, Paytm is optimistic about its future. The company is banking on the rebound in key metrics, especially the merchant base. Paytm says its rising merchant base has exceeded 1.09 crore while daily transaction values are reaching pre-pandemic levels. Moreover, the customer base remains stable at 7.8 crore, with a positive trend of increasing average transaction value per customer, it highlighted. Furthermore, Paytm appears to have made quite a few adjustments to focus on cost optimization. This includes a reduction in employee costs and expanding its fintech offerings.

Blackbuck has released its financial report for the first quarter of the ongoing financial year ending March 2026. The Bengaluru-based company reported a 57% year-on-year growth in scale in Q1 FY26 and posted a profit of Rs 34 crore in the quarter. Blackbuck's revenue from operations grew to Rs 144 crore in Q1 FY26 from Rs 92 crore in Q1 FY25, its financial statements sourced from the National Stock Exchange show. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, Blackbuck’s operating revenue increased 18% to Rs 144 crore in Q1 FY26 from Rs 122 crore in Q4 FY25. Revenue from its truck operator services was the primary source of revenue, accounting for 98% of total operating revenue. The company also made Rs 16 crore from interest income which took its overall revenue to Rs 160 crore in Q1 FY26, compared to Rs 98 crore in Q1 FY25. Looking at the expenses, the employee benefit cost accounted for 32% of the overall expenditure which fell 5% year-on-year to Rs 37 crore in Q1 FY26 from Rs 39 crore in Q1 FY25. Deprecation and other operating expenses were key overheads that drove total expenditure to Rs 114 crore in Q1 FY26, compared to Rs 92 crore in the same quarter last year. Blackbuck’s net profit increased 17% to Rs 34 crore in Q1 FY26, as compared to Rs 29 crore in Q1 FY25. Blackbuck debuted on the stock exchange at Rs 208.90 and is now trading at Rs 481.85 (at 15:26 PM), bringing its total market capitalization to Rs 8,670 crore ($1 billion).

Fintech firm Paytm announced its financial results for the third quarter of the current fiscal year (Q3 FY25) on Monday. The Noida-based company reported revenue of Rs 1,828 crore and a net loss of Rs 208 crore for the period. According to Paytm’s unaudited consolidated quarterly report filed with the National Stock Exchange, its revenue from operations declined by 35.9% year-on-year from Rs 2,850 crore in Q3 FY24 to Rs 1,828 crore in Q3 FY25. However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, the firm recorded a 10% increase in revenue compared to Q2 FY25 (the preceding quarter). Income from payment service revenue accounted for 55% of the total operating revenue which stood at Rs 1,003 crore in Q3 FY25 while the revenue from financial and marketing services were recorded at Rs 502 crore and Rs 267 crore in the same period. The company also added Rs 189 crore from other non-operating sources, bringing its overall revenue to Rs 2016.5 crore in Q3 FY25. For the fintech firm, its employee benefits remained the largest cost center accounting for 34% of the overall cost which decreased by 36% to Rs 756 crore in Q3 FY25. This includes Rs 182 crore as ESOP cost (non-cash). Its payment processing charges and marketing costs were reduced by 42% and 48.7% to Rs 570 crore and Rs 141 crore respectively in Q3 FY25 from Rs 982 crore and Rs 275 crore in Q3 FY24. Software, communication, legal, cashback, and other overheads took the total expenditure to Rs 2,220 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 3,216 crore in Q3 FY24. A reduction across all overhead departments enabled Paytm to narrow its losses by 6.3% to Rs 208 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 222 crore in Q3 FY24.

CarTrade released its financial results for the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year (Q1 FY26) on Monday. The company reported a 22% year-on-year revenue growth compared to Q1 FY25, with profit doubling in the same time period. CarTrade’s revenue from operations grew 22% to Rs 173 crore in Q1 FY26 in contrast to Rs 142 crore in Q1 FY25, as per the firm’s unaudited financial results sourced from the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The company’s total income for Q1 FY26 grew to Rs 199 crore, up from Rs 157 crore in Q1 FY25. The Mumbai-based company operates in three segments: Consumer, Remarketing, and Classifieds. Income from the consumer segment formed 38% of the total operating revenue which increased to Rs 66 crore in Q1 FY26 from Rs 51 crore in Q1 FY25. Income from the remarketing and classified segment stood at Rs 59 crore and Rs 48 crore, respectively, in the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year. On the expense front, employee benefits expenses formed 53% of the overall spending which went up a modest 6% to Rs 75 crore during the period. Including other costs, CarTrade’s overall expenses increased 8% to Rs 142 crore in Q1 FY26 from Rs 23 crore during Q1 FY25. The decent growth and controlled spending enabled CarTrade to double its net profit to Rs 47 crore in Q1 FY26, compared to Rs 23 crore in Q1 FY25. CarTrade’s share price is trading at Rs 1,871 (as of 10:56 AM) with a total market capitalization of Rs 8,886 crore ($1.03 billion).

EaseMyTrip’s operating revenue decreased by 25.5% to Rs 114 crore in Q1 FY26 from Rs 25.5 crore in Q1 FY25, as per its financial statements filed with the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Air ticketing contributed 50% of the company’s revenue but fell 47% to Rs 57 crore in Q1 FY26, down from Rs 107 crore in Q1 FY25. Hotel packages accounted for 28.5% of total revenue, generating Rs 32.5 crore. Including other undisclosed income, its total income for Q1 FY26 stood at Rs 120 crore, compared to Rs 156 crore in Q1 FY25. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, EaseMyTrip’s operating revenue fell 18% to Rs 114 crore in Q1 FY26 from Rs 139 crore in Q4 FY25. In line with its scale, total expenses rose 8% to Rs 118 crore in Q1 FY26 from Rs 109 crore in Q1 FY25. Service costs accounted for 15% of the total, falling 5% to Rs 18 crore in Q1 FY26. Payment gateway charges, employee benefits, and advertising were other major costs for EaseMyTrip in the last quarter. EaseMyTrip’s profit after tax (PAT) fell 98.7% to Rs 44 lakh in Q1 FY26 as compared to Rs 34 crore in Q1 FY25. On a unit basis, the Delhi-based company spent Rs 1.04 to earn a rupee of operating revenue with EBITDA of Rs 6.2 crore during the last quarter. In its board meeting, the company also approved an investment of Rs 175 crore in Three Falcons Notting Hill Limited for a 50% stake, the acquisition of 100% stake in AB Finance Private Limited for Rs 194.4 crore, and approved an investment in Vashu Bhagnani Industries Limited. EaseMyTrip closed Thursday's trading session at Rs 9.22, with a 4% increase in its share price. The company’s total market capitalization stood at Rs 3,353 crore (approx $383 million).
