IT ministers meet Google, startups on app suspensions

A series of meetings between Google and Indian startup representatives to address the suspension of more than 200 apps from the Android Play Store did not result in any significant progress. While the government is evaluating the issue, it is unlikely to issue a notice immediately. Startup founders allege discriminatory pricing by Google and claim that the restored apps on the Play Store lack the ability to accept payments from users. The government is committed to finding a sustainable solution to create an ecosystem conducive to startup growth. Startups are also hoping for support from the Competition Commission of India, which has previously fined Google for anti-competitive practices. However, it is important to note that the commission does not regulate pricing.
