International passengers can soon breeze past security and immigration with Digi Yatra | Mint

India plans to expand its facial recognition technology, currently used for domestic passengers at select airports, to international travelers. The move is part of the Digi Yatra project, which aims to enhance airport security and immigration processes. By sharing identification details in advance, international passengers can experience faster clearance at Indian and overseas airports, minimizing the time spent waiting in multiple queues. The project, created by the Digi Yatra Foundation, is already being used by over 4 million users and is set to expand to 29 airports in the coming months. However, concerns about data privacy and tailgating persist.
