A federal appeals court has partially lifted an injunction that prevented California from implementing an internet protection law for children, while also acknowledging that certain parts of the law might infringe upon the First Amendment. The court ruled in favor of NetChoice, a trade group representing companies like Amazon, Google, and Facebook, that the California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act violated free speech rights by forcing businesses to evaluate and mitigate potential risks children might face online. However, the court also found that the judge failed to adequately consider NetChoice's other objections, allowing the rest of the preliminary injunction to be set aside.
