Rant alert: When I used to manage the internal training and assessment for TCS for new recruits, it icked me to see people having to resign for their communications skills (more often than not, folks couldn’t clear email writing assignments over java/.net). Of course there are policies and this is corporate and we are here for business yada yada. But if we release 200+ folks within 2 months of hiring them - something is really wrong with the hiring process here. The Indian IT industry is known as “job creators” and promises jobs every quarter for folks in tier-2/3 cities. But the curriculum of the colleges in here are archaic. The mindset of average brown parents are archaic. We still don’t understand the importance of softer skills like communication and optical illusion of ambition. Because I kid not, they will survive in corporate just fine if they know how to write emails and present slides. Sad but true.
