The Indian government reported approximately 204,844 cybersecurity incidents in 2023, representing a 6.4% increase from the previous year. The Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Jitin Prasada, stated that the government is actively addressing cybersecurity threats and has implemented measures to enhance security and prevent cyber-attacks. These policies aim to ensure an open, safe, and trusted internet for users. The government has also directed central ministries, departments, and states to appoint Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and established the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC) to safeguard critical information infrastructure in the country.
