State-sponsored cyberattacks against India up 278% in three years

According to a report by cybersecurity firm Cyfirma, state-sponsored cyber attacks against India have increased by 278% between 2021 and September 2023. Government agencies saw a rise of 460% in targeted cyber attacks, while startups and SMEs experienced a 508% increase. India is facing a higher proportion of foreign state-influenced cyber attacks compared to the global average, with 72% of cyber attacks in the country being state-sponsored. The report also revealed that services companies, manufacturing, healthcare, education, and retail were the most targeted sectors.
