Omnichannel nutrition platform HealthKart has raised $153 million led by ChrysCapital and Motilal Oswal Alternates. Existing investor A91 Partners along with Neo Group also participated in the new round. HealthKart owns and operates several nutrition brands including MuscleBlaze, HKVitals and Gritzo. Apart from online presence, the firm has over 200 retail stores across 90 cities. In December 2022, HealthKart raised $135 million led by Temasek with participation from A91 Partners and Kae Capital. According to the startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, the Gurugram-based firm has raised around $360 million to date. As per the company’s press release, it crossed 1,000 crore in revenue threshold in FY24, and also achieved full year EBITDA profitability during the said fiscal year. While the firm has yet to file the audited numbers officially, it recorded Rs 832 crore revenue in FY23 with a loss of Rs 76 crore. HealthKart spun off its generic drug search business, HealthKartPlus, in 2015 and rebranded it as 1mg, which now operates under Tata 1mg Technologies Private Limited. Along with the funding, HealthKart has also announced its first ever employee ESOP buyback plan worth Rs 55 crore ($6.5 million). The buyback will benefit both current as well as former employees. According to TheKredible’s data, more than 20 startups have implemented ESOP buyback, liquidity, and payout programs worth around $200 million in the ongoing calendar year (2024).

AlgoBulls posts 4.4X revenue jump in FY24, swings to positive EBITDA Algorithmic trading-focused fintech startup AlgoBulls demonstrated hyper-growth during the fiscal year ending March 2024, while keeping tight control on expenses—with losses rising by only 50%. AlgoBulls’ revenue from operations surged to Rs 238 crore in FY24 from Rs 54.5 crore in FY23, according to its consolidated financial statement sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC). AlgoBulls is an AI-backed algorithmic trading platform that offers tools enabling traders to automate their strategies. It allows users to either build custom strategies or choose from a range of pre-built options—revenue from these services accounted for 99% of its total revenue. On the expense side, the company’s cost of materials—its largest expenditure—surged 4.5X to Rs 236 crore in FY24, accounting for nearly 98% of total expenses. Employee benefit expenses doubled to Rs 3 crore, while other overheads, including operational and administrative costs, amounted to Rs 2 crore for the year. Overall, the firm’s total expenses jumped 4.3X to Rs 241 crore in FY24 from Rs 56 crore in FY23. AlgoBulls’ net loss increased by 50% to Rs 3 crore in the last fiscal year. However, it reported a positive EBITDA of Rs 1 crore, with an improved EBITDA margin of 0.42%, while its return on capital employed (ROCE) stood at -35%. At a unit level, AlgoBulls spent Rs 1.01 to earn a rupee. As of March 2024, the company reported Rs 9 crore of current assets which includes Rs 2 crore of cash and bank balance. According to TheKredible, AlgoBulls has raised a total of $2.5 million in funding to date, including a $2 million round from lead investor Venture Catalysts, which holds a 2% stake in the company. Meanwhile, the company’s founders—Pushpak Dagade, Jimmit Patel, and Suraj Bathija—collectively own 66.66% of the company.

Omnichannel jewellery brand CaratLane has recorded 27% year-on-year growth during the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year. Moreover, its EBITDA crossed Rs 130 crore in the same period. CaratLane's total income (excluding bullion and Digi Gold sales) surged to Rs 1,117 crore in Q3 FY25, up from Rs 879 crore in Q3 FY24, reflecting 27% year-on-year growth. The figures were reported in Titan’s quarterly results sourced from the National Stock Exchange (NSE). According to the company's press release, CaratLane has added 19 new stores in India, bringing the total to 305 stores across 128 cities. During the quarter ending December 2024, CaratLane also opened its first international store in New Jersey, United States of America. With the 22% growth in brand searches, EBITDA for CaratLane stood at Rs 131 crore during Q3 FY25, with a margin of 11.7%. Notably, Titan's total jewelry business, including Tanishq and Mia grew by 26.6% to Rs 16,134 crore in Q3FY24, compared to 12,742 crore in Q3 FY24. Apart from CaratLane, Tanishq, and Mia have added 11 and 13 new stores respectively in the domestic market during the last quarter. Titan Company Limited initially acquired a 62% stake in CaratLane for Rs 357.24 crore in 2016. Over time, it increased its holding to 71.09%. The company later acquired an additional 27.18% for Rs 4,621 crore, bringing its total stake to 98.64%, and subsequently purchased the remaining shares for Rs 60 crore in February last year. During the fiscal year ended March 2024, CaratLane posted a 42% year-on-year increase to Rs 3,081 crore from Rs 2,169 crore in FY23. However, its profit slipped 3.7% to Rs 79 crore in the same period. CaratLane directly competes with Bluestone which filed DRHP to SEBI for Rs 1,000 crore IPO and reported Rs 1,266 crore in operating revenue for FY24 with a loss of Rs 142 crore. Fine jewellery brand Giva saw a 66% year-on-year revenue growth to Rs 274 crore in FY24. Meanwhile, Melorra is yet to post its annual results for the last fiscal.

Men’s grooming brand Beardo, owned by FMCG giant Marico, crossed the Rs 200 crore revenue milestone for the first time since the acquisition. The company posted a 23.7% rise in revenue and a 3.6X jump in profit after tax (PAT) in the same period. According to its standalone financial statements sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC), Beardo’s revenue from operations rose to Rs 214 crore in FY25 from Rs 173 crore in FY24. At the same time, the company’s profit after tax climbed to Rs 13 crore from Rs 3.63 crore a year earlier, while total income stood at Rs 215 crore. The growth was steered by tighter cost management and higher operating efficiency. The company’s total expenses grew 17.3% YoY to Rs 197 crore, slower than topline expansion, leading to improved profitability. When it comes to burn, the cost of materials consumed grew 39.3% to Rs 94 crore in FY25, whereas the employee benefits and other costs stood at Rs 14 crore and Rs 52 crore, respectively. Beardo’s EBITDA margin more than doubled to 7.1% from 3.4% in FY24, while its ROCE stood at a healthy 57% during the fiscal year ending March 2025. Beardo’s board noted in its annual filing that FY25 marked the first year it crossed the Rs 200 crore revenue mark, adding that the company expects to “achieve new heights in the coming years.” The grooming brand continues to focus on hair styling, perfumes, and skincare categories, which together contribute over 90% of its turnover. Since its acquisition by Marico in 2017, Beardo has transitioned from a D2C startup to a structured FMCG subsidiary, with better supply chain control, offline expansion, and cost efficiency. The appointment of Siddharth Vaya as whole-time director in April 2024 also reflects Marico’s increased strategic oversight. On the balance sheet front, Beardo’s total assets grew 44% to Rs 72 crore, supported by a 39.5% increase in current assets to Rs 60 crore. On a unit level, it spent Rs 0.92 to earn a rupee in FY25. In the men’s personal care space, it competes with peers such as The Man Company, Ustraa, and Bombay Shaving Company.
