Swiggy adds fresh ESOPs worth $52 Mn Food delivery and quick-commerce platform Swiggy Limited on Monday announced fresh employee stock options under its Employee Stock Option Plan 2024 for eligible employees. The Nomination and Remuneration Committee passed a circular resolution to grant 12,896,462 ESOPs (Employee Stock Options) to its employees, according to a disclosure filed by Swiggy with the National Stock Exchange (NSE). As per the filings, each stock option will be converted into an equity share. Based on Swiggy's current market valuation, the newly granted ESOPs are valued at Rs 443.4 crore, or approximately $52 million. The development comes three months after it allotted 2.61 crore shares under various ESOP schemes. The company’s paid-up equity share capital also increased to Rs 2.26 crore from Rs 2.23 crore. Recently, Swiggy invested Rs 1,000 crore in its subsidiary Scootsy Logistics for expansion. Scootsy Logistics contributed 42% of Swiggy’s overall revenue in the previous quarter. Swiggy has yet to file its financial results for the last quarter of the last fiscal year (Q4 FY25). During the Q3 FY25, the company recorded a 31% year-on-year growth to Rs 3,993 crore, compared to Rs 3049 crore in Q3 FY24. In the pursuit of growth, the losses for Swiggy grew 39.2% to Rs 799 crore in the same period. After today's trading session, Swiggy's stock closed at Rs 343.85 per share, bringing its total market capitalization to Rs 78,620 crore (around $9 billion). Amid recent market volatility, the company also hit an all-time low of Rs 306.95 on April 7.

Logistics company Delhivery is turning around the table by registering notable profits during the quarter ending June 2025, with a scale crossing Rs 2,100 crore in the same period (Q1 FY25). Delhivery’s operating revenue grew 4.6% to Rs 2,172 crore in Q1 FY25 from Rs 2,076 crore in Q4 FY24, according to the company’s unaudited consolidated quarterly report filed with the National Stock Exchange. Logistics services including (warehousing, last mile logistics, designing and deploying logistics management systems) were the primary sources of revenue for Delhivery. The Gurugram-based company added another Rs 110 crore from financial sources tallying the overall income to Rs 2,282 crore in Q1 FY25 from Rs 2,195 crore in Q4 FY24. For the logistics firm Delhivery, the cost of freight and handling formed 71% of its overall expenditure. To the tune of scale, this cost grew 4% to Rs 1,579 crore in Q1 FY25 from Rs 1,519 crore in Q4 FY24. The firm spending on employee benefits, advertising, finance, legal, and other expenditures took the overall expenditure to Rs 2,223 crore in Q1 FY25 compared to Rs 2257 crore in Q4 FY24. The continued growth in scale and reduction in total cost enabled Delhivery to turn black with Rs 52 crore in profits in Q1 FY24 as compared to Rs 68 crore loss in Q4 FY24. On a unit level, the firm spent Rs 1.02 to earn a rupee in Q1 FY25. Delhivery has also granted 1,66,122 employee stock options under its existing ESOP Plan 2012, tallying its total ESOP pool to 1.73 million, according to a different disclosure filed by Delhivery through NSE. Delhivery’s share price is currently at Rs 414.4 (as of August 2) and its total market capitalization stood at Rs 30,632 crore or $3.6 billion.

Online beauty and grooming products marketplace Purplle has raised Rs 1,000 crore (approximately $120 million) in a round led by a wholly owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) with participation from other investors. The latest round includes a combination of primary and secondary shares. While the company did not disclose its current valuation, media reports estimate it at around $1.2-$1.3 billion. In addition to the funding round, Purplle has announced its largest-ever employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) liquidity program worth Rs 50 crore ($6 million). As per the company, it has granted ESOPs to 320 employees to date, and 85 of them have liquidated ESOPs worth Rs 75 crore ($9 million) over three buyback programs. In June 2022, Purplle raised $33 million in its Series E round from South Korea’s Paramark Ventures and turned unicorn with a valuation of $1.1 billion. The Manish Taneja-led company is primarily a marketplace but also sells its own labels such as Good Vibes. The company serves the beauty needs of customers in tier II, III and micro-markets, expanding beyond metro cities. Purplle claims that it is operationally profitable and has grown its GMV by around 4x over the last three years. It expects to grow its online platform faster than the industry while scaling offline stores and improving profitability. For the fiscal year ending March 2023, Purplle reported Rs 475 crore in operating revenue along with a loss of Rs 230 crore, according to startup data intelligence platform TheKredible. In the previous fiscal year (FY22), its revenue and losses stood at Rs 219 crore and Rs 203 crore, respectively. This will be the second secondary transaction for Purplle within a year. In October 2023, JSW Ventures exited the Gurugram-based company through a sale to Manipal Education & Medical Group Family Office (MEMG).

Food tech major Zomato has introduced a new ESOP plan worth $458 million for its employees. The board at Zomato has got the shareholder nod to grant 18,26,27,402 ESOP options under its new plan, bringing the total ESOP pool to 31,07,80,714 options, its regulatory filing accessed through the National Stock Exchange shows. As per Fintrackr’s estimates, the newly added ESOPs are worth Rs 3,800 crore or $458 million while the value of the total ESOP pool stands at Rs 6,609 crore or $796 million. Following the ESOP approval, Zomato also touched its all-time high share price of Rs 209.84 today. With this, the total market cap of the company has increased to Rs 1,84,060 crore or $22.17 billion. According to a separate disclosure, Zomtao has voluntarily withdrawn the application with the Reserve Bank of India for a certificate of registration for undertaking the business of an NBFC as the company does not intend to pursue the lending/ credit business anymore. Earlier this week, Zomato company received a GST demand notice of Rs 9.5 crore. This is the second GST notice for the Gurugram-based firm, following a penalty notice of Rs 184 crore in April this year. The company has shown robust growth in FY24. Zomato’s revenue from operations surged 71% year-on-year to Rs 12,114 crore in FY24 from Rs 7,079 crore in FY22. Moreover, the profits of the company stood at Rs 351 crore in FY24 as compared to a loss of Rs 971 crore in FY23.
