Govt Mulls Separate Semiconductor R&D Unit With Short Project Timelines
The Indian government is considering the establishment of a dedicated research and development (R&D) centre for semiconductors. The proposed India Semiconductor Research Centre (ISRC) aims to focus on semiconductor research that can quickly be put into industrial production. The R&D centre would operate separately from other research activities and could potentially evolve into an independent entity. The detailed plans for the initiative are expected to be revealed after June's general elections. The semiconductor industry in India is experiencing significant growth and is projected to reach a market value of $55 billion by 2026.
