The Indian government plans to establish a dedicated research and development (R&D) wing under the India Semiconductor Research Centre (ISRC), with a focus on semiconductor research for industrial production. This initiative aims to foster an intellectual property-driven manufacturing ecosystem and involve both the private and public sectors in semiconductor R&D. The ISRC will concentrate on developing next-generation semiconductors, packaging, systems technologies, processes, and materials. Further details of the scheme will be announced after the general elections in June, and the dedicated R&D center might eventually become an independent entity.
