France's competition watchdog has fined Google €250 million ($271.73 million) for breaching EU intellectual property rules in its dealings with media publishers. Google has agreed not to contest the facts and has proposed measures to address the shortcomings. This fine is related to a copyright dispute in France over online content, which arose from complaints by major news organizations. Google previously dropped its appeal against a €500 million fine issued as a result of the same investigation. The watchdog found that Google violated four out of seven commitments made in the settlement agreement, including good faith negotiations and transparency.
