Ford, Mercedes-Benz, and Tesla rank as the top three automakers in terms of efforts to eliminate carbon emissions and other environmental and human rights concerns from their supply chains, according to a new ranking. US automakers showed the most progress in cleaning up their supply chains, with Tesla registering the largest score increase. However, gaps in human rights practices, particularly Indigenous rights, remain among top-performing automakers. Toyota and Honda were among the poorest-performing automakers, with slower progress in transitioning to electric vehicles and ignoring supply chain emissions and Indigenous rights. Overall, industry progress in 2023 was deemed inadequate.
