Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to edit direct messages within 15 minutes of sending them. The edit button appears when you press and hold a message, giving you the ability to alter your response. Recipients will be notified that the message has been edited, but they won't know what changes were made. This update eliminates the need to unsend a message to fix mistakes. Additionally, users can now turn off read receipts and pin three message threads at the top of their inbox. Instagram is also planning to introduce other direct message upgrades, such as stickers, gifs, videos, voicenotes, and customizable chat backgrounds. This move towards improving messaging features aligns with Instagram's shift from being solely a photo-sharing platform.
