Exclusive: DrinkPrime raises fresh money at 30% valuation premium DrinkPrime, a subscription-based reverse osmosis (RO) water supplying startup, has raised Rs 20 crore in fresh funding from Artha Venture Fund and Mirabilis Investment Trust. According to DrinkPrime’s filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), its board approved the allotment of 21,718 Series A3 CCPS and 10 equity shares at an issue price of Rs 9,205 per share to raise Rs 20 crore. Artha Venture Fund and Mirabilis Investment Trust have invested Rs 10 crore during the round. According to the filing, the proceeds will be utilized in line with the company’s approved business plan. As per Entrackr’s estimates, DrinkPrime’s valuation has jumped to Rs 340 crore (approximately $37 million) in the latest round compared to Rs 261 crore in its previous funding round. Following the allotment in the latest round, Artha Continuum Fund and Mirabilis Investment Trust hold a 2.94% stake each in DrinkPrime on a fully diluted basis. The Bengaluru-based startup had previously raised $3 million in a funding round led by SIDBI Venture Capital Ltd. Founded in 2016 by Vijender Reddy Muthyala and Manas Ranjan Hota, DrinkPrime operates a subscription-based water purifier platform that offers IoT-enabled purifiers to households. DrinkPrime reported a 54% increase in operating revenue to Rs 72.13 crore in FY25 from Rs 46.81 crore in FY24, while its loss decreased to Rs 11.53 crore from Rs 14.14 crore during the same period.

Online gold loan platform Rupeek has raised Rs 50 crore from 360 One Large Value Fund (formerly IIFL Wealth Management). Significantly, the company’s valuation nosedived by 60% in the new round. The board at Rupeek has passed a board resolution to issue 1,307 compulsory convertible preference shares at an issue price of Rs 3,82,492 each to raise Rs 50 crore, its regulatory filing shows. The company will use these funds for growth, expansion, and general corporate activities, as the company’s board decides. During FY24, the company also raised around Rs 43 crore from existing investors such as Peak XV, Bertelsmann, Accel India, and GGV Investments, the filing further shows. According to Fintrackr‘s estimates, the company has been valued at around Rs 2,050 crore or $250 million post-allotment. This implies that the company raised new money at a 60% haircut in its valuation as compared to Rupeek’s peak valuation of $634 million in January 2022. Recently, an ET report said that Rupeek was in talks to raise funds from Ranjan Pai’ investment office Claypond Capital and Axis Bank at a valuation of $200-250 million. Rupeek provides gold loan services and claims to streamline the entire processing from underwriting to disbursal in 30 minutes. The Binny Bansal-backed company has raised around $150 million to date. As per startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, PeakXV is the largest external stakeholder followed by Accel and Bertelsmann. Its new investor 360 One Large Value Fund holds 2.44% (post-allotment). The Bengaluru-based company is yet to report FY24 numbers but its revenue from operations declined 27.6% to Rs 89 crore in FY23 while the losses stood at Rs 281 crore in the fiscal year ending March 2023. The Sumit Maniyar-led firm directly competes with Oro Money, Ruptok, Yellow Metal, and to some extent with PayU-backed Indiagold. There should be no issues on the valuation haircut for Rupeek, considering that its peak valuation was not just at the peak of the funding cycle, but subsequent performance has also failed to justify those numbers. There are far too many founders who get hung up on a specific valuation number, before it is too late to raise fresh funding. Rupeek has clearly focused on the next steps, rather than dwell on the past too much. That it found backers at the new valuation figure also speaks about the credibility the founders retain, despite the tough times in the recent past.

The board at Wholsum Food Private Limited, the parent company of Slurrp Farm, has allotted 1,04,457 Series C1 preference shares at an issue price of Rs 2,872 each to raise Rs 30 crore from Scarlet Ventures, according to the filing sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC). The company will use the new investment amount to augment the long-term financial resources of the company, the filing further added. According to Entrackr’s estimates, the firm’s valuation grew 59% to Rs 810 crore (around $90 million) post-money, compared to Rs 510 crore valuation in its previous $7.2 million round. Following the latest round of allotment, new investor Scarlet Ventures holds a 3.7% stake in the company. Slurrp Farm has raised around $18 million across multiple funding rounds, including a $7 million Series B round led by the Investment Corporation of Dubai. Following this round, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma came on board as an investor and brand ambassador. Founded in 2016, the company makes millet-based snacks and meals for young children. Its portfolio products include porridges and cereals, puffed snacks for children, millet pancakes, millet dosa, cake mixes, and others. Slurrp Farm’s parent reported over 30% YoY growth in its operating revenue to Rs 95.6 crore in FY25 from Rs 72.5 Cr in FY24. However, its losses also increased by 29% to Rs 32.7 crore in the same period.

Exclusive: Powerplay valuation halves in fresh funding Construction management startup Powerplay is set to raise fresh capital from its existing backers, Accel India and Surge Ventures, after a three-year funding gap, but at a steep 57% valuation markdown. The board at Powerplay has passed a special resolution to issue 1,739 Series A2 CCPS at an issue price of Rs 98,512.12 per share, to raise Rs 17.13 crore (approximately $2 million), according to the company’s regulatory filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). Accel India and Surge Ventures will participate in Powerplay’s new round with Rs 8.56 crore each. According to the startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, the company will be valued at around Rs 258 crore or $30 million post-money, marking a 57% valuation cut, compared to its previous $7 million funding round in August 2022 led by Accel, which valued the company at around Rs 600 crore or $75 million. The company has raised Rs 117 crore to date. As per the filing, after this round, Accel will be the largest external stakeholder with a 21.25% stake, followed by India Quotient and Surge Ventures, which will hold 15.70% and 15.47%, respectively. Its co-founders, Iesh Dixit and Shubham Goyal, will cumulatively own 38.22% of the company. Founded in 2019 by Iesh Dixit and Shubham Goyal, Powerplay simplifies site-to-office communication to manage construction and architectural projects. It enables construction companies to track progress, attendance, material management, invoices, issue tracking, and budget management. Powerplay is yet to file its financial statements for FY25. The Bengaluru-based startup saw its revenue grow 43% to Rs 4.39 crore in FY24 from Rs 3.07 crore in FY23. At the same time, its losses reduced by 14% to Rs 31.92 crore.

Wealthtech startup Stable Money has raised over Rs 123 crore nearly $15 million in a new round from RTP Capital, Lightspeed India, and Matrix Partner. The Bengaluru-based company has become one of the few startups to close two rounds within a year, especially during the so called funding winter. The board at Stable Money has passed a special resolution to issue 77,135 CCPS at price of Rs 16,019 each to raise Rs 123.56 crore or $14.74 million, its regulatory filing accessed from the Registrar of Companies (ROC) shows. RTP Capital led the round with Rs 54.26 crore ($6.5 million) while Lightspeed India and Matrix Partners India pumped in Rs 34.64 crore ($4.15 million) each in this round. In August 2023, Stable Money scooped up $5 million in its first equity fundraise led by Matrix Partners and Lightspeed. Titan Capital, Mar Shot Ventures and a clutch of prominent angel investors also participated in the round. As per startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, Stable Money will be valued at around $60 million post money. This is nearly four fold jump in valuation from $16.5 million in the last round. Founded in late 2022 by Saurabh Jain and Harish Reddy, Stable Money is building a fixed-return investment platform to provide financial consultation services to investors. The platform will also publish financial literacy content on its online platform to create awareness among investors. A clutch of wealthtech startups have managed to score decent funding in the ongoing calendar year. Recently Deserv raked in $32 million in its Series B round led by Premji Invest. In May, wealth management platform Wealthy raised $5.4 million in a new round led by Alpha Wave Incubation Fund.

Exclusive: Droom India raises funds at $360 Mn valuation IPO-bound used car marketplace Droom is raising Rs 25 crore (approximately $2.9 million) in a fresh funding round co-led by India Accelerator (IA), and Rameshchandra Shah. The board at Droom has passed a special resolution to issue 15,62,500 preference shares at an issue price of Rs 160 each to raise Rs 25 crore or $2.9 million, its regulatory filings sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) shows. India Accelerator and Shah both will invest Rs 5 crore each, Shirish Patel, CEO of Prudent Corporate Advisory (wealth management company) will invest Rs 3 crore and the remaining amount will be invested by other individual investors. The firm will use these proceeds for general corporate purposes, the filings said. As per Entrackr’s estimates, the Gurugram-based firm will be valued at approximately Rs 3,097 crore or $360 million post-allotment. “We deliberately kept the valuation very low for the Indian subsidiary as a strategic move to give material upside to Indians who did not have opportunity to participate in the making of Droom in the past one decade,” said Sandeep Aggarwal, Founder and CEO of Droom, in response to queries about the company's valuation. “We plan to raise a bit more capital in the near term at much higher valuation both in Singapore and India…” Droom is an online marketplace for buying and selling used vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and electric vehicles. It also offers rental services. According to startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, Droom has raised approximately $330 million from investors including 57 Stars, Seven Train Ventures, Lightbox, and Beenext. Droom reported Rs 85 crore in revenue for FY24, a 66% decline from Rs 253 crore in FY23. It managed to reduce its losses by 35% to Rs 40 crore in FY24. Droom is reportedly planning to file draft papers for a Rs 1,000 crore IPO in 2027, targeting a valuation between $1.2 billion and $1.5 billion.

New-age fashion brand House of Rare (Rare Rabbit) has secured Rs 50 crore (approximately $6 million) from its existing investor, A91 Partners. This fresh funding comes just seven months after its $18 million round. The board at House of Rare has passed a special resolution to allot 23,073 preference shares at an issue price of Rs 21,670 each to raise Rs 50 crore (approximately $6 million), its regulatory filing sourced from the Registrar of Companies shows. In January, the company raised its authorized share capital, citing the need for funds to support expansion and working capital requirements, according to a separate resolution. Following the fresh process, A91 Partners' stake in the company has been increased to 14.17% compared to 9.65% in its previous round. According to Entrackr's estimates, the funding came at a flat valuation of $279 million for the Bengaluru-based company. Rare Rabbit is a premium fashion brand known for its designer clothing for men and women. With a presence in over 100 stores across India, the brand also offers its collections through its online store. Rare Rabbit showcased a 69% revenue growth from Rs 376 crore in FY23 to Rs 636 crore in FY24. Moreover, the company's profits surged over 2X to Rs 74.6 crore in FY24, compared to Rs 32.2 crore in FY23. Rare Rabbit competes with brands like Souled Store, which raised around $30 million and achieved a revenue of Rs 355 crore in FY24. Its other competitors Snitch and WROGN also raised $13 million and $15 million in December 2023 and June respectively.

The board at HouseEazy has issued a total of 3,915 shares at a face value of Rs 10 and premium of Rs 85,666 on preferential basis and by way of private placement, the company’s regulatory filings with Registrar of Companies show. Chiratae Ventures has invested Rs 29.62 crore, whereas Antler Innovation Fund invested Rs 2.86 crore. IA Growth Opportunities Fund and Veena Jindal invested Rs 76.25 lakh and Rs 29 lakh respectively. As per startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, HouseEazy has reached a valuation of Rs 156 crore post money (over $18 million). The company may raise more funds in this round and the valuation will vary accordingly. In December 2023, HouseEazy raised $1 million in a seed round led by Antler and picked up $370,000 in pre seed funding in June 2022. Founded in 2021 by Tarun Sainani and Deepak Bhatia, HouseEazy is building a full-stack, data driven technology platform to provide the best prices and instant liquidity to sellers and title-checked, refurbished, ready-to-move-in homes to buyers. The Noida-based company says that it uses a proprietary machine-learning algorithm with over 1.25 million data points to provide real-time price offers, eliminating the need for multiple meetings & negotiations for sellers. In December, HouseEazy claimed that it reached an ARR of Rs 250 crore (GMV) while maintaining profitability. The firm expects to hit Rs 1,000 crore ARR by March 2025 from the NCR market alone. For the fiscal year ending March 2023 (FY23), HouseEazy registered Rs 2.78 crore in operating revenue with Rs 44 lakh in loss.

Exclusive: Neo raises $25 Mn led by Crystal Investment Consumer-facing wealth and asset management firm Neo has raised Rs 221 crore (about $25 million) in a follow-on round led by Crystal Investment Advisors. This is the second fundraise for the Mumbai-based company in the past four months. According to a regulatory filing sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC), Neo’s board approved a board resolution to allot 2,571 equity shares at Rs 8,60,410 each, to raise the above-mentioned amount. Crystal Investment Advisors led the tranche with Rs 193 crore, while Morde Foods Private Limited contributed Rs 28 crore. The firm plans to deploy the capital towards growth initiatives and operational requirements. As per Entrackr’s estimates, the latest infusion values Neo at around $700 million post-money. The new raise lands barely three months after Neo mopped up Rs 162 crore ($19 million) through equity shares in a round led by VT Capital, with participation from 17 other investors. The development was earlier exclusively reported by Entrackr. During that $19 million round, Neo clarified to Entrackr that it had also raised $20 million in February (Q1 CY2025) from MUFG, Peak XV Partners, Euclidean Capital, and a large Indian family office at a pre-money valuation of Rs 5,500 crore (around $640 million). The current tranche has also been closed at the same valuation. Neo offers advisory and yield-based investment products to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, including family offices. Earlier this year, Neo Assets marked the first close of its second private credit fund at Rs 2,000 crore. Registered with SEBI, the fund provides credit solutions to unlisted companies and acquires secondary positions. The company is yet to file its financials for FY25. For the fiscal year ended March 2024, Neo recorded a 2.7X year-on-year jump in revenue to Rs 177 crore, even as its losses widened to Rs 13.7 crore during the period.

API Holdings, the parent company of online drug dispenser PharmEasy, has raised Rs 1,804 crore ($216 million) led by Ranjan Pai’s Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG) and existing investors. The fresh money, however, has come with a 90% haircut in valuation from the firm’s peak worth. The board at API Holdings passed a special resolution to allot 18,63,74,897 cumulative convertible preference shares at an issue price of Rs 96.8 each to raise Rs 1,804 crore, its regulatory filing sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) shows. MEMG family office led the round with Rs 800 crore while Prosus, Temasek, and 360 One Portfolios pumped in Rs 221 crore, Rs 183 crore, and Rs 200 crore, respectively. CDPQ Private Equity, WSSS Investments, Goldman Sachs, and Evolution Debt Capital cumulatively participated with Rs 400 crore in the new investment. The company will further convert the CCPS–issued into equity shares in the ratio of (1:20), the filings added. As per TheKredible’s estimates, the company has been valued at around Rs 5,904 crore or $710 million (post-allotment). This is a nearly 90% haircut in valuation of PharmEasy which was once valued at $5.6 billion in 2021. Last month, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) cleared Ranjan Pai’s investment in PharmEasy. The Mumbai-based firm has been trying to raise around Rs 3,500 crore since August last year to repay debt which it took from Goldman Sachs. PharmEasy defaulted on its loan terms with Goldman Sachs in June last year. Around the same time, the firm’s valuation was reduced by around 50% by its investor Janus Henderson. Neuberger Berman also cut PharmEasy’s valuation by 21.4% to $4.4 billion as of February 2023. The Dharmil Shah-led company is also among a list of startups which postponed its IPO plan after filing draft papers with market regulator SEBI. The firm filed DRHP in November 2021 and pulled back its listing plan in August 2022 citing tough market conditions. For the fiscal year ending in March 2023, PharmEasy saw a 16% growth in its revenue to Rs 6,644 crore against Rs 5,729 crore in FY22. As per startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, the company also curbed its losses to Rs 2,289.8 crore in FY23 as compared to Rs 2,731.7 crore in FY22. PharmEasy’s travails have been well documented, especially post its acquisition of Thyrocare. The latest fundraising should put at rest any lingering doubts about the future of the firm. The move to expand into diagnostics has delivered very poor results for the firm, and the funding now will result in the promoters being diluted way more than they ever hoped to be. It’s a salutary lesson for many other startups, and the only silver lining is that the firm itself has survived, hopefully to get a second chance at making history.
