MS Dhoni-backed Garuda Aerospace raises Rs 100 Cr in Series B round Drone technology startup Garuda Aerospace has raised Rs 100 crore ($11.6 million) in its Series B funding round led by Venture Catalysts (VCAT) at a post-money valuation of $250 million. Previously, the firm had raised $22 million in its Series A round led by Venture Capital firm SphitiCap in February 2023. The fresh proceeds will be used to scale up drone manufacturing, enhance production capabilities, and complete an R&D and testing center focused on defense drone technology. Founded in 2015 by Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Garuda has grown to a team of over 200 members and manufactures 30 drone types while offering 50 services. Garuda currently holds over 20 patents and operates a fleet of over 400 drones with 500 trained pilots across 84 cities. It serves clients including government agencies and major corporations such as TATA, Reliance, and Adani. It has also partnered with global companies like Lockheed Martin and Elbit Systems. As per TheKredible, Garuda Aerospace’s revenue from operations grew by 2.3X to Rs 110 crore in FY24 from Rs 47 crore in FY23. Its net profit reached Rs 16 crore in FY24, a 2.7X increase from Rs 6 crore in the previous year. Garuda competes with the likes of ideaForge, Aarav Unmanned Systems, Throttle Aerospace Systems, General Aeronautics, and Omnipresent Robot Tech in the drone manufacturing and drone-as-a-service (DaaS) segment across defense, agriculture, and industrial applications.

Drone tech startup Enercomp raises Rs 2 Cr in bridge round Drone tech startup Enercomp Solutions has raised Rs 2 crore in a bridge round led by angel investors. The round was advised and facilitated by Bestvantage Investments, a boutique investment advisory firm that connects high-growth startups with strategic capital across India and the Middle East. The proceeds will be used to expand manufacturing, scale R&D for AI-powered drone software, and build delivery capacity for large-scale national deployments. Enercomp’s roadmap includes an Rs 8 crore strategic investment plan over the next year to strengthen its IP, product stack, and execution capabilities. Founded in Ahmedabad, Enercomp operates at the intersection of hardware, software, and services. Its integrated offerings span indigenous drone manufacturing, Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS), and a proprietary GIS analytics platform. The firm claims to have developed seven proprietary drone models, including VTOL, fixed-wing, and surveillance variants, which are actively deployed in commercial and government projects. With 70% of revenue driven by product sales, Enercomp counts Tata Projects, Reliance, Mahindra Susten, L&T, and several government agencies among its clients. Its software dashboard is used for real-time, mission-critical data analysis by enterprise and public sector clients. Enercomp claims that it grew from Rs 3.1 crore in FY23 to Rs 5.6 crore in FY24, maintaining profitability. As per the company, it has already logged Rs 4.2 crore in revenue in FY25, with an active order book of over Rs 9 crore. To date, the startup has raised Rs 6.9 crore across previous rounds and seen its valuation jump from Rs 12.5 crore to Rs 60 crore, with the founding team retaining over 80.5% equity, including a 4% ESOP pool.

Deeptech startup Planys Technologies has raised $4 million in its ongoing pre-Series A round. The fresh investment tranche has come after a gap of more than two years for the Chennai-based firm. The board at Planys Technologies has passed a board resolution to issue 8,471 CCPS at an issue price of Rs 41,600 each to raise Rs 35.23 crore, its regulatory filing accessed from the Registrar of Companies shows. Himalaya Finance, Golden Birch Investments, Krishna Defence, Impact India Investments, SiriusOne Capital, and several individuals including Ashish Ramesh Kacholia, Shalini Chhabra, and Puneet Gupta participated during the new investment tranche. The company also approved its MSOP pool of 1,445 equity shares amounting to Rs 6 crore (as per the valuation report) in February, a separate filing shows. Established in 2015 by Tanuj Jhunjhunwala and Rakesh Sirikonda, Planys does underwater inspection by offering secure and adaptable solutions through marine robotics and analytics systems. The company has been working on over 350 projects with its 10 products across 5 countries. It also has more than 30 patents under its belt. Planys Technologies has raised around $8 million to date including a $1.6 million round led by Keiretsu Forum, LetsVenture in November 2021. According to the startup data intelligence platform TheKredibe, the company has been valued at around Rs 135 crore (post-money) in the new tranche. Unlike other startups, Planys hasn’t been growing at a rapid clip and this could be evident from its flat scale which grew to Rs 8.63 crore in FY23 as compared to Rs 7.41 crore in FY22. Moreover, the firm’s losses also spiked 3.2X to Rs 3.51 crore in the same period.
