Dholera chip fab: India's leap into electronics manufacturing

The Indian government has approved a proposal by Tata Electronics and its Taiwanese partner, Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp., to set up a semiconductor chip fabrication factory in Gujarat's Dholera. The facility, expected to be operational within three years, will produce 3 billion chips annually in various sizes. This move is seen as a step towards achieving the goal of making electronics appliances fully in India and establishing a local semiconductor supply chain. It is also expected to boost local chip production and increase manufacturing capacity in the country.
