The Tata Group and Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) are set to debut their joint venture semiconductor chip by the end of 2026, according to PSMC Chairman Frank Huang. The specifics of the partnership are still being determined, but production will begin with 28-nanometer chips in order to cater to India's supply chain needs. The chip fab facility is being set up in Gujarat's Dholera, with the Indian government subsidizing up to 70% of the project's $11 billion cost. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced ground-breaking ceremonies for three semiconductor facilities in India, including the Tata Group fab in Assam and the CG Power factory in Gujarat.
