SFL (Sports for Life) has raised Rs 21.57 crore ($2.58 million) in a Series A round led by Fireside Ventures and Genesia Ventures, with participation from Roots Ventures, TDV Partners, and other existing investors. The proceeds will be used to expand into new cities, grow multi-sport academies, add sports, strengthen coaching capacity, and build more features into the performance and communication platform. SFL plans to invest in livestreaming systems, monitoring tools, and deeper analytics as it scales access to structured youth sports across India. Co-founded by DealShare co-founder Sourjyendu Medda and Armaan Tandon, SFL operates a youth sports platform that integrates academies, leagues, and a technology layer. The firm uses an AI-driven performance system that collects training and match data to generate personalised learning plans, progress reports, and decision-support tools for coaches. SFL currently operates in Mumbai and Pune. It claims to have coached more than 1,500 children and ran tournaments with participation from over 2,000 players. Its football league drew more than 100 teams in its second season. Over the next year, SFL plans to enter Bengaluru and NCR, onboard 10,000 new children into academies and 20,000 into tournaments, and expand its sport offerings from seven to twelve, including cricket.

Sourjyendu Medda, co-founder of social commerce platform DealShare, has ventured into the sportstech space with his new startup, Sports For Life, which aims to invest in and support the sports ecosystem in India, focusing on providing athletes with the necessary resources to excel. While Sports For Life has yet to announce its official launch, the Bengaluru-based startup has raised seed funding from individual investors and early-stage venture capital firm Roots Ventures. The board of Sports For Life’s parent company, Jambavan Academy, has passed a special resolution to issue 3,000 Seed CCPS to raise Rs 9.5 crore, according to its regulatory filings accessed by Entrackr. Roots Ventures invested Rs 5 crore, while ML Tondon and Sons HUF and Blume Ventures pumped in Rs 3 crore and Rs 1 crore, respectively. The rest of the amount was poured in by Kunal Shah’s QED Innovation and Himanshu Arora. According to TheKredible, the company is valued at Rs 36.65 crore ($4.3 million) following this seed round. Following the fresh funding, Roots Ventures has become the largest external stakeholder with a 12.08% stake, followed by ML Tandon HUF and Blume Ventures. According to the firm’s website, Sports For Life is investing in sports academies across India, with the goal of creating a sports ecosystem that elevates the overall standard of sports in the country. Medda, who was one of the co-founders and a board member of DealShare before leaving in January, has also roped in Armaan Tandon, a former data and operations analyst at Cartesian, as a co-founder of Sports For Life. In 2024, several prominent startup founders have launched new ventures, many of which have already secured initial funding. Notable launches include ZeroPe by BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover, OppDoor by Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal, Unikon by Bella Vita founder Aakash Anand, Gabit by Zomato co-founder Gaurav Gupta, Callmatic by Mitron TV co-founder Shivank Agarwal, and Lyskraft and Nurix AI by Cult.fit co-founder Mukesh Bansal.

Sports-tech startup Gamepoint raises pre-Series A round Technology-enabled sports startup Gamepoint has raised Rs 7 crore in a pre-Series A funding round co-led by Zaggle founder Raj P Narayanam and Aditya Vuchi, along with participation from Praveen Raju and others. The proceeds will be used to expand its multi-sport center network and strengthen its technology and operational capabilities. Co-founded by Aditya and Siddharth Reddy, Gamepoint aims to provide convenient access to learn and play sports, operating professionally managed multi-sport centers for people of all age groups. The startup’s centers provide structured coaching programs for children, flexible membership and pay-and-play options for adults, and comprehensive sports event management solutions for corporates, delivered in a safe and hygienic environment. The Hyderabad-based startup’s centers feature international standard courts/fields, specialized coaching programs, membership plans, and on-site sports stores. It operates through a mix of owned and potentially franchised centers, targeting a "neighborhood sports center" model. Gamepoint operates a chain of multi-sport centers across Hyderabad and Warangal, featuring infrastructures for sports such as Badminton, Basketball, Pickleball, Squash, Football, Cricket, Table Tennis, and Swimming. Over the next five years, the company plans to scale to more than 300 centers across metros as well as Tier I and Tier II cities, enabling 1 crore people to play sports in India. To date, it claims to have trained over 12,000 students, enabled more than 3 lakh people to play sports, and organized more than 700 sports events. It directly or indirectly competes with other players in this space such as Premier Badminton Coaching Academy, Machaxi, KheloMore, Huddl, and others.
