Character AI lays off at least 5% of its staff

Chatbot startup Character.AI has reportedly laid off around 5% of its workforce, mainly in marketing and recruiting departments. The company is refocusing its efforts to build personalized AI products and has signed a licensing agreement with Google for its language model technology. Character.AI had previously raised $193 million in venture capital and was in talks to secure additional funding from Google.
