Chaitsi Ahuja, founder of sustainable ecommerce platform Brown Living, was motivated to start her business after realizing the significant impact of plastic pollution in India. India alone contributes 20% of the global plastic pollution, amounting to 9.3 million tonnes per year. Since its launch in 2019, Brown Living has grown from 300 products and 15 sellers to a 10-employee startup backed by impact investors. The platform features a wide range of eco-friendly products, including daily essentials, home decor, clothing, and more. The company experiences 50% month-on-month growth and serves both B2C and B2B customers. Brown Living aims to leverage technology to further expand its reach and connect with more artisans across India.
