Apple's abandoned self-driving car project, known as "Project Titan," included a prototype with a video game-like controller as a backup control system, according to Bloomberg. The prototype, called "Bread Loaf," featured a controller resembling an Xbox controller and was tested by CEO Tim Cook in 2020. Apple aimed for full autonomy with the car and the controller was designed for challenging navigation situations. However, the company ultimately shifted its strategy to Level 2 autonomous driving before ultimately shelving the project in February 2021. Apple reportedly invested around $1 billion annually in Project Titan.
