A safety group graded 14 driver-assistance systems. Tesla's self-driving option was the worst.

A recent study conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety revealed that the majority of partial driving automation systems received poor safety ratings. Out of the 14 systems tested, 11 earned poor ratings, including Tesla's Autopilot and Full Self Driving systems. The tests highlighted issues with driver monitoring, adaptive cruise control, cooperative steering, and disengaging safety features. Other automakers, such as Ford, Genesis, and Mercedes-Benz, also received poor ratings. Despite the concerns surrounding these automated driving features, self-driving cars are continuing to advance, with Waymo recently receiving approval to expand its operations.
