AI can drive efficiency, but raises market concentration concerns: Competition Commission chief

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) plans to commission a study on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) on competition. The study will explore how AI is reshaping market dynamics and address the challenges it poses to existing competition law frameworks. CCI Chairperson Ravneet Kaur emphasized the need to ensure that the competition framework remains robust in the face of AI-related concerns such as market concentration and anti-competitive behavior. The study will also examine how AI can be utilized by the regulator itself. The CCI has been actively working to tackle anti-competitive practices through enforcement actions and advocacy measures.
