nope, you have to negotiate on equity, maybe 5-10%. his promise may seem legitimate, if product grows as time passes, this promise will seem like a burdon to him. (it happens when a lot of people, initially things seem right but in long term, it seems like problem.) without equity you will not have much in hand, secondly he is protected by international law, so there is nothing much you can do even if you both made a legal binding contract in revenue split. he might have committed revenue split to 10 others - mkt, sales, ops... you will never know
