I recently got approached by someone from Spain with a collaboration offer to help build an AI product. The deal is: I get 30% of revenue, but 0% equity. The other person handles everything else and keeps 100% of ownership. This got me thinking is this a fair trade-off in the long run? I’d be investing time and tech skills, but with no long-term stake. I’m trying to figure out: • How common is this model in early-stage AI startups? • Is revenue share without equity sustainable or risky for developers? • What would you consider before saying yes? nope, you have to negotiate on equity, maybe 5-10%. his promise may seem legitimate, if product grows as time passes, this promise will seem like a burdon to him. (it happens when a lot of people, initially things seem right but in long term, it seems like problem.) without equity you will not have much in hand, secondly he is protected by international law, so there is nothing much you can do even if you both made a legal binding contract in revenue split. he might have committed revenue split to 10 others - mkt, sales, ops... you will never know

Actually not terrible if you see it as high-paying consulting. 30% revenue share could be more immediate cash than equity that might never vest or be worth anything. Most startups fail anyway - would you rather have 30% of something or 15% of nothing? How confident are you about the product itself?

I would recommend not to as you posting it on a social platform that means you are not really into the deal if it was that sort of good you would have already accepted it I would suggest you to wait but at the end it's your call..
