Nokia phone licensor HMD to bring out own smartphone brand

HMD, the licensor of Nokia phones, announced that it will launch its own brand of smartphones by mid-year. The company will introduce three types of smartphones globally by July, including two focused on sustainability and repairability and a partnership with Mattel for a Barbie flip phone. HMD plans to bring positive change by embracing a multi-brand strategy and collaborating with global partners. Additionally, the company announced the HMD Fusion, a smartphone-style device that allows users to program their own hardware accessories. The company aims to strengthen its presence in India, where it considers the market critical.
