CropIn, an agtech startup based in Bengaluru, has unveiled an open-source micro language model called 'aksara' that aims to support sustainable agriculture. The model, built on Mistral's foundation model, enables people in the agriculture sector to create affordable and scalable AI solutions. Aksara covers nine crops across five countries in the Indian subcontinent and focuses on addressing the challenges faced by farmers in the global south. CropIn has raised a total of $47 million in funding and plans to raise more capital to further develop its AI models and incorporate them into farming workflows.
