AI won’t fix the ‘broken trip’ experience in travel: Skyscanner CEO

Artificial intelligence (AI) may revolutionize trip planning, but it won't solve deeper issues in the travel industry, says John Mangelaars, CEO of Skyscanner. While AI can tailor information and provide ideas for travel, it can't address problems such as separate platforms for flight and car bookings. Policy decisions globally are needed to drive change in the sector. Mangelaars also highlights India's potential in the travel industry, particularly among millennials who are increasingly opting for flights over trains and seeking both quality experiences and good deals. Skyscanner's "go everywhere" feature, which shows cheapest travel options, is popular in India. However, high ticket prices could drive customers away from airlines, warns Mangelaars.
