I recently went through my first startup pitching experience. I prepared my idea, built a presentation, and shared my vision for how the startup could grow in the future. During the discussion, most of the questions were about one thing “What if competitors copy your idea?” While that is a fair concern, I felt that many important things about building a startup were never discussed: the execution strategy, future roadmap, pilot plans, and long-term vision. Eventually, my idea was rejected. But the experience made me think. If the same question had been asked to the founders of companies like Swiggy or Flipkart “What if someone copies your idea?” would those companies even exist today? Ideas can always be copied. But execution, persistence, and the courage to build something from nothing cannot be copied so easily. So this is not the end of the journey. It’s just the beginning of learning, improving, and building something stronger.
