Budget is open.” Both were right. AI can write code, but it cannot run a business. It won’t clean messy data, connect systems, choose what to automate, or manage real customers and risk. So companies aren’t paying for coding anymore. Every company is becoming a software company, not to launch apps but to redesign decisions. That’s why salaries rise while AI improves. All technologies pass three stages: assist, expand, automate. We are in assist moving to expand. Before automation replaces work, someone must install it. The real shift is the ladder. AI removes beginner tasks. Value moves to people who understand systems. AI won’t replace builders. It replaces instruction followers. This isn’t a hiring bubble. It’s the installation phase.
