Over the last few weeks, I ran a small experiment while building an early-stage founder community in India. Instead of pushing long posts, resources, or “value threads”, we tried something simpler: We asked better questions. What we did Shared startup news → added one sharp question instead of an explanation Ran weekly quizzes instead of long discussions Let members vote, predict, agree/disagree before commenting What happened ~330 members joined organically 1,000+ messages came from peer feedback, not announcements 7 MVP-stage startups got reviewed by real builders Quizzes saw ~20 active responses consistently Questions triggered more replies than any “informational post” The insight People don’t engage because content is valuable. They engage because their thinking is invited. Psychology at play: Questions activate ownership bias Voting lowers effort → increases participation Public answers trigger social proof Feedback loops make users return without reminders
