Chairs were thrown, barricades broken, fires lit. Police intervened. Arrests were made. Injuries reported. ⚽ West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee issued a public apology and ordered a high-level probe. ⚽ The chief organiser was arrested for fraud and mismanagement. This wasn’t just poor planning. It was a betrayal of public TRUST. Messi didn’t fail us. Our systems did. Our OBSESSION WITH STATUS turned a moment of joy into a spectacle of exclusion. The real questions - ✅ Why did we need this so badly? ✅ Why do we keep outsourcing joy, bliss and meaning to celebrities and systems that never deliver?
