I almost said yes to dark mode. Almost. The team reached out yesterday and asked if we should include dark mode in the app we’re building. And as a certified dark mode person, my instinct was to approve it in one second. 🙈 But I stopped myself and posted a simple question instead. “Is dark theme required from day one, or is light theme enough?” The response was clear. Light first. Dark mode can come later. Especially when the product isn’t built for developers or technical-heavy users. And just like that, we got our answer. By asking early, we saved a huge amount of time, effort, energy, and yes, money. No need to overbuild before the product even reaches real users. This is the power of building in public. You don’t guess what people want. You ask. You listen. And you build better because of it. Another small decision. Another big win.
