IMPORTANT - The latest draft text from COP30 in Belém, Brazil contains no mention of fossil fuels. Not phased out. Not even named. This omission comes despite 29 nations threatening to block progress unless a roadmap for transition away from fossil fuels was included. More than 80 countries - from Colombia to France, Vanuatu to Mexico - had joined the call for a clear plan. Instead, PRESSURE from petrostates like Saudi Arabia and Russia, and large consumers including India, led to the removal of the term altogether. 🛑 Why It Matters - Science is clear: Without a fossil fuel phase‑out, 1.5°C is impossible. - Justice is clear: For frontline nations, climate delay is climate betrayal - Politics is fragile: Global cooperation is at risk. Without ambition, unity breaks. While the summit talks about more money to help countries deal with climate impacts, without cutting fossil fuel use, we won’t avoid dangerous climate change. We need real action, not just talks. The future of the planet depends on ending fossil fuel addiction - FAST.
