Cutting Wings in God’s Own Country, Kerala ❓What: A Brahminy Kite - one of India’s most magnificent raptors, meant to rule the skies - now sits helpless on a dirty platform, unable to fly. 📍 Where: Alleppey, Kerala’s enchanting backwaters. I visited this spot a few months back and saw her, not soaring above water but grounded at a restaurant, displayed for human amusement. 😔 Why: Restaurant owners cut or clip the wings of wild birds so they CAN’T ESCAPE - turning living beings into décor or photo props. The Kite’s silent message: “I can’t fly, because you cut my wings.” How did we become so numb? When did our wonder about wildlife turn into a business of captivity? Every feather clipped, every wild bird grounded for PROFIT or ATTENTION, is a heartbreak - robbing her of freedom and dignity, and us of compassion. When we condone or ignore this suffering, we justify greed over empathy. We teach the next generation that domination is more important than coexistence. Let’s change this story. Speak up. CHOOSE ETHICAL TOURISM. The sky belongs to every wild soul - let’s not be the reason they lose it.
