Wait… why does the 📅 calendar emoji always show July 17? Not June 1. Not December 25. Not even today’s date. Always — July 17. It’s one of those things you’ve probably *seen a thousand times* but never really *noticed*. Until now. Here’s the fun part, there’s a reason behind it. And once you know it, you’ll never unsee it. July 17 was the day Apple first launched *iCal*, its calendar app, back in 2002. So when Apple created the calendar emoji, they decided to make it show the same date, a quiet little tribute to iCal’s birthday. The kind of thing that reminds you how even the tiniest design decisions have history, meaning, and intention behind them. So next time you drop a 📅 emoji, you’ll know, it’s not just a date. It’s a piece of tech nostalgia sitting inside your keyboard. Today you learned. 😄
