Prevented 20–30% crop losses, reduced kerosene/diesel dependence, and advocated renewable energy. Became a social activist, demanding Sixth Schedule safeguards & statehood for Ladakh. Led major movements: 21-day climate fast (2024) and Gen Z–led Leh protests (2025) → large youth participation; later arrested under NSA. Highlighted ecological strain: 3–4 lakh tourists annually vs ~3 lakh population. Received global recognition: Rolex Award (2016), Ramon Magsaysay Award (2018). Inspired the character “Phunsukh Wangdu” in 3 Idiots.
