Yeah that's true that apps shouldn't be tied to nationalism. But it's a messaging app, it does the same as essentially any messaging app like whatsapp, etc. You can't do anything better in a messaging app, maybe you can make a better UI or add some more features. The goal of the Arattai app was to reduce the reliance on other countries and replace it with the Indian version like how China has their own version of apps in their country. So, I think that tying Arattai to patriotism/nationalism was right move since, the goal was to reduce the dependence on other countries.
