Most buyers walk into conversations with this thought in mind: “I’m the buyer, so things should work my way.” It sounds logical at first, right? You’re the one spending money, so you expect things to align around you. But here’s the catch. That’s only half the story. The truth is, it’s never a one-sided game. It’s always a two-sided relationship. A buyer is looking for a solution, which is why they reach out to a seller in the first place. And a seller is looking for revenue, which is why they’re in business. Both are dependent on each other. Think about it: Without a buyer, a seller has no business. Without a seller, a buyer has no solution. It’s a partnership, not a power play. The best outcomes don’t happen when one side “wins.” They happen when both sides respect the value the other brings to the table. So the next time you walk into a buyer-seller conversation—pause. Instead of asking, “How do I get my way?” Try asking, “How do we make this work for both of us?” That’s when real business happens.
