India Launches Its First Indigenous Semiconductor Chip!!! India marked a historic milestone with the unveiling of the Vikram-32 processor at Semicon India 2025. Designed by ISRO’s Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and fabricated at SCL Mohali this 32 bit chip is built for aerospace and defense applications, capable of withstanding extreme conditions. The launch also highlighted contributions from academic institutions and regional hubs. NIT Rourkela, PMEC Berhampur, NIT Silchar and Tata Electronics showcased chips for IoT biomedical and AI applications, signaling the growth of India’s semiconductor ecosystem. IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw called it a key step toward tech self reliance, marking India’s entry into the global semiconductor landscape.
