The “one prompt, full production app” dream isn’t happening anytime soon. Here’s why: Writing code is easy, maintaining it is hell. Every app has unique bugs, edge cases, scaling issues. AI can’t predict all that. App Store rules, device fragmentation, legal/payments, and user behavior are moving targets. Best case? In the next 5–10 years, AI may handle 80% of boilerplate (auth, db, push, design templates). But the last 20% — polish, reliability, iteration — is where 80% of the effort goes. That’s why even giants like Uber or Instagram still burn through huge engineering teams. So no, it won’t be “one prompt and done.” It’ll be AI + humans — like autopilot in planes. Pilots didn’t disappear, they just shifted roles. Same with devs.
